Shane Repeats Masters win...

first off congrats to svb very deserved winner and played great

2nd of all those shirts were horrible, they looked like fake bowling shirts

lastly, I have never been on the svb nut hugger chain unlike lliakos corvette cardigan hangthe9 etc but i took a reflective moment watching this and I will happily say i think the 800lb gorilla in the room is gone and svb is currently the best player in the world (j bergman/shaw might be close 2nd om current form)

as ive always said shane is phenomenal, when i get into the discussion is when people say he is the the best player bar none to pick up a cue

daz is phenomenal, earl, efren ko pin yi, busty ralf neils there all there abouts
but YES I would take shane over anyone right now

i think his poor display in china was the catalyst for him to get his form back, after he won the world pool masters last year he struggled with form in the early part of this year, so ill be curious to see how he finishes the year off and does at turning stone and mosconi

well done shane pure class player

Who's ever said that?

Poll the site, and I think close to 100% would say Efren is the best ever to pick up a cue, and we can include snooker and billiards stars in that comparison. Harold Worst could also be considered, but he had a short career since he died young.

hes been said at least 4 times i can count and thats what gets me

regardless thats where i stand on it

efren would be up there certainly, but including snooker players i dont how you go against ronnie

being able to beat other pro players in your sport with your non dominant hand is something i know nobody else can do

Does anybody know when and where these videos might be posted in the near future? Thanks

Ronnie burnt out on snooker in '05, and tried his hand at American 8 ball and got beaten pretty good. And yes, he did "practice" leading up to the IPT. We can theorize about Ronnie's peak in other games all we want (only if he "practiced" he'd run a 1000 balls!), but the facts are that Efren plays every pool discipline at a world class level and can play 3 cushion and other carom billiards games at a professional level, while Ronnie remains a snooker specialist.

Ronnie isn't even close to the greatest "non-American pool" cue sportsman, anyhow. Raymond Ceulemans gets that nod.

too much nonsense in this to articulate a response, agree to disagree

Not letting you off that easy. If you're going to call something nonsense, you should at least have some kind of counterargument.

Ronnie isn't even the best snooker player of all-time. That'd be Joe Davis. He raised snooker's standard of play more than any other player during their respective time. Snooker didn't have an official century break for 50 years until he first achieved it, and then he achieved the game's first 147. And he's recorded nearly 700 century breaks. All this on much tougher equipment.

Joe Davis was also an English Billiards world champion.

Now he would be in the running for greatest cue sportsman of all-time. Won world championship in multiple disciplines and set milestones I'm sure in his day were thought impossible (147).

They weren't bad. Something like this:

How many seasons did Earl play with the Lakers?

It's stupid to compare achievements from one era to another. Equipment was different, knowledge was different, and the level of competition was different.

But Ronnie in his prime vs. Joe in his prime would hardly be a match. Ronnie would wipe the floor with Joe.

The irony of this post is that you jumped on board the Shane train while first knocking it.
Welcome aboard-the Champaign is cold and flowing

The hungers come out in full force anytime Shane wins ,, didn't here much from him when Ko was moping the floor with him

Is that the 203rd time you've referenced that match?

You should get some more ammo for your side of the argument. If you can find any.

Here, I'll even help get you started...

Shane hasn't won an actual world title yet.

He got rid of his black cuetec for a white cuetec?!?! That's racist.

That jump shot was pretty slick! Jump banking a ball with shape is far from easy.

Poor Darren looks miserable, but I don't blame him. When you get into the finals of a major tournament like that, losing is never fun.

I've never once said Shane was the best to ever pick up a cue. My argument has always been that he is currently, and has been the best rotation player on the planet for the last few years.

Lol. As ever, you appear to miss the pertinent fact about pool, in all its forms: it's
an amateur game. The difference between the top dogs in snooker and the likes of efren or svb is VAST. You are simply in denial if you think otherwise.

204 ,, yes we know he hasn't but he will one day

Fixed for errors.... carry on.

Seriously though it looks to be an impressive run so kudos to him.

Good post
Excellent run out performance by Shane in last 2 matches. Congrats
Shane will be first to say he is not world champion just like Thorsten said he just a barbox tourney after he won CSI US Open 10 ball
Shane is classy but unfortunately some of his fans are crassy morons.

The World Sports Grille bar is having a mini tourney and winner will be crowned "World Champion"

Apples & Oranges, brochacho!

You're trying to compare chess to chaos. You won't see a snooker player using a break cue to make a full table jump shot and draw the cue ball three rails for shape.

“It is an honour to win the World Pool Masters, this is one of the greatest days in my career,” said an emotional Van Boening after he took a standing ovation from the crowd.

Shane saw his 2014 masters win as one of the "greatest days" in his career and you just equated it to a "world sports grille bar mini tourney".

We all know that the World Pool Masters is a bit gimmicky and has a field consisting of some of the elite, while other elite players are omitted. Still, if had a solid field and Shane's win is a big deal to me. He'd been having an awful year on the nine foot tables, winning nothing I can think of in 2015 until this past weekend.

With the Mosconi Cup not too far away, this way a key event for Shane. Nine foot table, short races and a shot clock are the best training of all for December. Break from anywhere in the kitchen, shockingly used a year ago at the Mosconi for the first time in a long time, is also something Shane probably doesn't get to do very often in American events. Beating Darren, who is a lock to be on Team Europe, in a big spot is also a big deal.

The Joss Tour guys, meaning Dechaine, Shaw, Strickland, Sossei and a big, deep field, will put Shane to the test at Turning Stone later this week. I'm really looking forward to seeing Shane play well again.

Well done Shane. Keep up the good work.
