Shane vs. Fedor

I'm guessing this match is for real money. Gorst can easily post 50K from the 250K he just won at the WPC. Shane has deep pockets too, although he has even more deep pocketed backers. A 100K match is easily doable for these two pool stars. I say it's the real deal!

Yes, they will each get a perk from the Pay For View money, but that's just the gravy for playing a popular match. In the highest echelons of Pool (or any sport for that matter) the top guys all want to be accepted and acknowledged as the very Best, #1! Even in the NBA Finals where the players are are all multi millionaires, to be the NBA Champions means more to them than just the money.
Regardless of how the money is distributed, we will all know great pool when we see it, no? Honestly, it's pitiful to me that the stars in our sport have to gamble to make money. No one is asking pro athletes in other sports to wager before each match. No knock on gambling at all, just saying thinking and rewards need to evolve, just my opinion course.

I get that many are skeptical about the legitimacy and provenance of the prize funds in these types of match ups, and rightly so. To be honest, deception is incentivized due to the minimal relative dollars involved etc. I get that. However, players make more when they improve their brand over the long run, and that necessarily involves winning matches.

These guys can't dump their way to success, period.

Looking forward to a great match, and I for one don't care about the outcome...my prediction is that truly top flight pool will be on display, and the victory will be well earned.

I went to xpool but they only had ppv for sale. Any way to reserve an in-person seat?
Good question, I'm interested in sweating the last day in person as well.

Also, what time of day will play start each day I wonder? No info other than dates on the website that I can find.

There are lots of small table experts. I grew up on 9' tables but the last 5 or 6 years I've played almost extensively on bar-boxes. Distance and speed gets you on the 9 footers but congestion and speed gets you on the little tables, pick your poison.
I understand all that and 7’ Diamonds are no joke, they are tough tables. I’ve never heard of action table associated with 7’ tables. The action tables are normally the tighter tables at the pool room.

Did Sky beat Shane in the last Bar Box Battle? I remember him being up but can't remember the outcome.

Here's a link to purchase the early bird special price.

Yes they do, but who considers 7’ tables “Action Tables” 🤣 I seriously doubt they will be playing on the bar box🎱
Of course, that's why I referred to the other room as the action tables, the 9' Diamonds where the action games are played.

Both the 7ft and 9ft Diamonds are good challenges. I don't care for the term 'bar box', like it's some toy or something. They both take good skill to work through.

I agree, to me a bar box is a Valley table with cavernous pockets and a Budweiser stain (which I don't mind at all from time to time!). A mint condition Diamond with perfect Simonis is hardly a bar box, even if it is 7'.

Must be a location thing... round here, a bar box is a 7ft table, regardless

I think in the worlds/with their playing conditions a 5 pack was the most.
Also, I heard?
2K high run/package player bonus cash.
I did see a four pack but heard the big guy got 5.

But this is 10-ball without Matchroom telling them how to rack and break. I would guess we see at least a 7.

Keep in mind it's an old building in Kentucky in August. Humidity is going to be a factor, I don't think the tables are going to play as smoothly as possible.

Keep an eye on the weather.... KY can be pretty dry here in August.

I didn't realize that, it rained the whole time I was there! At Railyard, though, I could feel the wind blow from inside the building, so I'm guessing insulation isn't their highest priority. Wonderful room, though, I had a great time.

Yes, it's a killer room for sure. Worth a visit for any pool enthusiast. KY weather is notoriously unpredictable though, so who knows what we will actually get. September is historically our dryest month. A few years ago, it didn't rain a drop for that entire month. Trust me, Ill never forget the hours I spent watering the hundreds of trees I had just planted.

Cheers,

Neil

The money involved is irrelevant to me. Both of these players will want bragging rights.

Someone mentioned the NBA. I am a Celtics fan. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum felt a huge hole in their lives not having won an NBA title. It ate at them. And they played their hearts out so they could be called Champions.

Some things go beyond money and are priceless. Reputation is one of those things. You can be sure the rest of the pool world will be paying attention.

As for me, I might sign up and watch. But I won't watch all the games. Maybe the first 10 or 20. Then I'd fast forward thru other matches if the layout looked a fairly standard runout. The I'd watch the final 20 games or so if it was close.

Can't figure out why 120 has become a thing, though. You'd think 100 would be enough!
