Shane vs. Fedor

Well, what Shane and Fedor are doing is not gambling, they are playing a game of skill against one another for money. Anyone else putting any money on the line is gambling.

I would prefer them to just say "they will get a cut of the PPV, once the PPV reaches X amount". I would gladly contribute to a PPV knowing a cut is going to the players.
Perhaps gambling isn't the correct term, technically...but that wasn't the point.

This should be a good matchup IMO.
And a lot of fun to watch. Anyone know who might be streaming the action?

From Shane’s post on Facebook: “I will be ready and prepared to play against #1 in the world. My backers are ready!” (Emphasis mine)

No shot these guys are putting up the $50k on their own. Maybe a piece, but definitely not the full amount. There’s no reason for them to.
Idk Fedor seems to like to bet his own.
Heard he was buying himself and not splitting it in the Buffalo's Calcutta's. That's the better part of 50k right there.

Fedor has been inconsistent lately. So much fiddling with his equipment, he does not seem to be comfortable with it. It will be hard to beat Shane's break if he finds it. Ought to be interesting for sure.
Did you watch any of the world champs?? didn't look to uncomfortable to me. lost an early match and stormed back to beat a brutal field.

Why all the negativity? Finally a great matchup of true champions. Many of these comments have decreased my enthusiasm to watch this ... but I will anyway. Anyone who likes or is interested in pool will learn about professional pool players and the game we love. The commentary should be in depth as it will be a most important part of the show.

Let's support this exciting chance to see our sport grow.

I was at Railyard Billiards recently, and the action tables are typical Diamonds, with 4 1/4" pockets. Unless they bring in something special for the event, I would expect it to be played on those. Louisville in August in an old building, you can expect humidity to be a factor, as well.
Action tables? All eight tables are 4 1/4 blue label Diamonds

I would tell myself I don't gamble. I bet. Realistically after only a few single game encounters on the toy table over the last 20 years, I now tell myself I'd rather steal.

In an upstanding superior fashion of course.

Agreed. Even if they are only playing for the jelly that would come from their backers and each are getting a piece of the pay per view, they'll likely give a full effort, which should make the match worth watching.

For me personally, I've never enjoyed these long races and I think they test things other than pool excellence, but for those who enjoy these marathons, it should be a treat.

May the best man win!

Agreed, I remember the race to 120 in Honk Kong several years ago, Earl came into the last day with a seemingly insurmountable lead of 17 games and somehow managed to lose with a spectacular effort from Efren. But by and large these marathon races are not my cup of tea.
Like you said, may the best man win!

Great view of this Stu.
Money aside, I feel that this could be a swan song of sorts. In my opinion both of these amazing talents are jockeying for position. Shane and Fedor have been struggling recently but have also had some great events recently. For American players this may constitute the changing of the guards.

I for one feel like Shane is going to use his strength (long races) in hopes that he can hang on to his glory days. Fedor will be trying to gain that ground. Personally I feel we are the winners.
Play ball!

I look forward to seeing the last few racks if the match is close. :ROFLMAO:

I don't have time to watch 200+ games, but I applaud them for doing it! It should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yes they do, but who considers 7’ tables “Action Tables” 🤣 I seriously doubt they will be playing on the bar box🎱

There are lots of small table experts. I grew up on 9' tables but the last 5 or 6 years I've played almost extensively on bar-boxes. Distance and speed gets you on the 9 footers but congestion and speed gets you on the little tables, pick your poison.

I'll be watching, and by that, I mean I'll be watching the comments sporadically on the official thread because I am not tuning in for this.

Props to everyone who will be supporting this via ppv buys, but yeah, these long boring sets do not work for me.

Earl was ahead by 7 at the end of Day 2, 70-63. His 17-game lead came 58 games later, at 104-87. Then came Efren's comeback, winning it 120-117.

Yes I did, and I watched him at Buffalo's. Both I would describe as extreme grinds for him, not his usual game.
