Came up with this a couple months back.
Great gambling game.

One pocket rules apply but you use 10 ball rack. The balls break really well.

Put $ per ball and fight till the last ball is made. There is a chance for a 5-5 tie which is not too bad. Best part is you always get to play your end game. Lots of fun hope you give it a shot.

P.S. First time I played at local hall I won $65 on a $5 per ball game my opponent was -3 balls at end of game.

Interesting idea.
You are correct, the end game gets played.
I plan to try it, for something different.

But you lose the early game...?

Why not play to a certain # of ball's, like 30 or 50? You could play the racks out and alternate breaks and all that.

Gotta write scores on paper or have some way to keep running count of balls made though.

14.1 short rack one pocket!!!!

Any reason why you don't rack 9 balls to make it an odd number? Concerned with how it breaks?
If you want to avoid the tie you could try the 9 balls and see how they break. I like the easy math for gambling purpose. 5 ,10, 20 per ball there is 50, 100, 200 out there each rack to try and win.

I wonder how that would be on a small table? Most of the tables in the area are bar boxes. Anybody have any experience with one pocket on the small tables?

I played one pocket a few times in the late 70s with nine balls.
...the most efficient break is a two-rail kick

Or should it be 9.1 short rack one pocket?

I want to try it sometime too.
If you go this route, leaving the last ball on the table and racking the other 9 could get intetesting (no head ball).
You make and break and continue your run.
Make then play safe on second shot.
Just play safe.
Miss and give up control / sell out.

This would really be 9.1 one pocket. I like it!!

This does sound kinda interesting and could be fun. Let's not forget maybe the best action game ever one ball one hole.

Sorry but I came up with this game Two years ago.

I tried to get players in Phoenix to try iit but had little luck.

It is a great way to play one pocket and makes for faster play.

You have come up with a new spin by putting a value on every ball.
I like that a lot.

I avoided a tye by making the last ball worth Two points.

You may be right, it probably is better especially for practicing " end game " strategy and what not but I was only referring to the gambling aspect of the 1b 1p

No need to apologize, it is a honor to hear from you, I am a big fan of your work. The first time i played this game i was using one of your BEM merry widows. It is the best cue i have ever had.

Great minds think alike. What did you name the game?

I assume you were referring to Stroud’s post.
