I need to ship a cue w/ 2 extra shafts. All are Predator. Shipping a Giuseppe Cue Case with them. It take 3 days to get to the destination. I'm concerned with the heat. The starting point is in Florida>>>>>going to Pa. Would it better to leave the Cue/shafts out or in the case? Does a vinyl case trap heat & moisture. Regardless everything will be in a rigid tube and 36x4x4 cardboard box. Thanks.

i shipped sewer pipe to taiwan

sorry i did not read the question fully
i dont know about temp control
a sock with rice will take care of the moisture or kitty litter

Keep the cue in the case. Heat will absorb internally by the case more slowly. With the cardbox and cuecase, the cue should be safe.

If you got a triangular tube card box, that would even be better than the square tube card box.

Use some small bubble bubble wrap inside the case so the shafts and butt doesn't move up or down.
You don't want the shafts or butt to move inside the case when being shipped.
Also, you don't want the case to move while inside the shipping box. I always use Priority mail.
The UPS trucks get mighty hot inside.

Put the cue in the case, the case in the box and ship it. It'll be fine. I've shipped about a thousand cues over 20 years and the only problem I ever had was a special, very thin walled ferrule that cracked.

I just shipped 7 cues in a case in a box and never gave it a second thought.

ok thanks. It's not hot & humid this time of year. I just wanted to be sure. The customer is fussy. I'm shipping them to myself. :D
I could leave them in the trunk of the car for a week but I'm real uncomfortable doing that. Shipping would cut down the exposure time and the heat of the trunk.

Frank...Just FYI, I've been keeping my cues/cue cases in the trunk of my car, in temps of 100 to -25, for the past 40 years. Never had any problems with any cues...ever. You will have no trouble with putting them in your trunk, and driving home to PA. Ship if you want to...but imo it's unnecessary.

Hi Scott. The car is being shipped in a closed transport. Those things get real hot inside. I might leave the cues in the car and take my chances. If something happens it'll be a good excuse to upgrade.

Colder than a witch's tit!

I just might do that. Can prevent a lot of agg.

One thing to remember, the holds of airplanes get ridiculously cold. I have had glued together rifles pop apart in airplane holds. I haven't heard of it damaging a pool cue but I'm always a little leery. Always use a few layers of bubble wrap around a cue you are shipping, that insures it never changes temperature fast.

You seem to already know this but a reminder to others, never ship in anything round without at least square or triangular ends on it. Round tubes roll! They roll offf conveyor belts, out of trucks, on and on. Sometimes they roll half off of something and get torn half in two too. I have seen heavy wall PVC destroyed, it got caught in some transfer machinery. Might have been rough on the machinery too, I don't know.

I had one of the closed metal sea containers. I think it got 30-40 degrees hotter inside than outside on a hot sunny day. I don't think I would want my cue in that even in seventeen layers of bubble wrap!

The weather is not bad in Florida and cool in Pa. I ended up with the cues&shafts in the trunk of the car. They are packed in a rigid tube. Will follow up. If you do not hear from me in the next week it means I made a bad mistake and can't discuss it:killingme:
