Taking a long shot but I am in Olathe until tomorrow morning and I was hoping to go hit some balls tonight but evidently Kansas has a law that states you have to be a member in order to enter a smoking establishment. I was told it takes 10 days in order to process a membership, so that's out of the question for tonight. Anyway, my question is if there are any members here that would want to meet up there tonight and get me and my buddy in as their guest (if that's even possible) so we could play for a few hours? They've gotten around the smoking laws fine so far and I'm sure it will continue. I was there about 5 months ago and it was no problem.

The little gal in back of the counter didn't recognize me right away but as soon as she did there was no problem with any membership. .

I'm sure they are just staying on their toes in case the local gov. tries to stop the smoking. Eventually it will probably happen but for now your fine.

Just go there. Great place to play pool and they'll take care of you......

It has already been a problem for two people. They wouldn't let my buddy come in and play. they wouldn't let this guy in either. You are a famous celebrity.
 
Anyone wonder if this is an investigation into whether or not the smoking laws are being followed? Maybe I am just paranoid. I was going to post my story about being allowed to practice when I was in town for a day but I better not say anything about that now that I have recognized that this might be a trap.

Glad I caught myself before letting the cat out of the bag!

I too at times, am paranoid, I mean suspicious, I mean cautious. It was a little before my time, but wasn't there a saying, 'Loose lips sink ships'?

I was just publicly laughing at myself for even thinking it. They went through a process by which I became a guest of a member who was already there.

This place must be visited if you ever get within 100 miles of it though! Amazing room!

As far as paranoid...

Ya never know who is capturing your packets! ;)

There is a no smoking law in Kansas. Unless your a private club. In which customers have to buy a membership to come in. There is a 10 day waiting period to get your membership!! THIS IS THE LAW HERE!! There is the exceptions. A special event going on does allow people to come in and sign in as a guest.
Shooters has to stick by the rules that are given to them. Im not exactly sure of how much the fine is for a violation but it is around $1500 plus cost. So if you come to visit make sure you know someone here that will sign you in as a guest of them!!!
Unless there is a tournament going on. Which is every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights!!!
 
I travel to KC frequently. Went to shooters a few months ago not knowing about the membership. Could not get in. No biggie, payed the $10 and got the card for next time. Have been numerous times. Nice tables, cheap rates and beer!

There is another place in Lenexa - shooters I think. No smoking allowed. Mostly bar boxes but have 4 nines that are generally open.
