Hi Everyone,

Looks like everyone in California showed for the Shooters weekend tourney in Riverside. Besides the usual local champions down here, Max, Ernesto, Moro, Melissa Herndon, Palmer, Gerardo, we had some great visitors. Efren Reyes and Jose Parica. Tang Hoa played.

Kim Davenport is back in stroke and looked and played great. The crowd was really pleased to see him. I haven't seen Kim play in years but I think it's safe to say he's making a comeback (from eye injury). He looked strong out there and didn't miss on the really tight tables.

Efren showed and wowed the crowd. Mark Tadd also made it in from Arizona - and a lot of players remembered him from the old days. Mark is a funny and friendly guy, and he showed some of his former pro speed. One of the highlight matches was Efren and Mark Tadd in the second round of the winners side. Mark made a nice showing but Efren was, well, Efren and we know that story!

This is a really nice room. There is a spacious playing area and a separate tournament room with grand stand seating. The atmosphere was really upbeat, very friendly.

Anyway - it was a lot of fun. This is a first class tournament. I made it through day one so I'll be playing again tomorrow and will post up a little more.

Thanks for the GREAT update, TATE, for the inquiring minds back home! :)

How many players are competing in this grand tournament? It looks like it is a first-class affair with the caliber of play.

Looking forward to hearing the final results. Will it be Efren, Jose, Mark Tadd, Kim Davenport, Ernesto, or TATE? Congratulations on making it to the second day in such a tough field.

I'll be staying tuned to reading all about it! :p

Hi Jam,

I do not know for sure who will win it, but I can tell you which one of these it won't be!

The field was a sell out. The tournament was $10,000 added and an $85 entry fee. There was a waitlist at the door. I'll try to find out an exact count and update it tonight.

Good luck to you and Keith at the Open too.

My lord! Who wouldn't play in that with that kind of ratio?

128 players... there were about 20 on wait list. several people sold their spot for 150. With 3 and 7/8 inch pockets in the tournament area, you have to bring your A game. Great atmosphere. The best of the best from the west coast came by, Mark Haddad, Billy Palmer, Morro, Max, Dan Wallace, and of course many others as Tate mentioned. Well, I got a match at 10am, better get ready! BTW TATE, NICE AVATAR!!!!LOLOL, you may need to update it! :D

Yes, now I have two of them. I need another cue like a hole in the head.

Good luck, my friend!

Holy moley! 3-7/8-inch pockets? Yikes!

What's the measurement of a snooker pocket compared to a 3-7/8-inch pocket? Just curious! :p

I hope SOMEBODY gets some pictures. This looks like an all-star cast! It looks like Mark Tadd and Kim Davenport are right in there. I'd like to see Jose Parica put on a good performance. He thrives on good competition in a tournament setting and always seems to cash, and what about that game face of his! :D

If I had to put my money based on yesterday's performances, I'd put it on Max, Jose and Efren. Davenport made some uncharacteristic mistakes, as did Tadd and a few other big names.

Meanwhile, Jose hasn't been missing shots and hasn't allowed opponents more than a few games. His first match he decimated his opponent 9-0. As well, Max has been shooting well. If he can keep his head on straight he should be able to make it to the finals.

Dag nab it! What happened?

I know there's a 3-hour difference in time, but inquiring minds want to know! :p

Efren's in on the losers side. Lost to Glenn (Can't remember his last name)
Max is out (I think either Efren or Ernesto put him out)
Ernesto had a nice comback on the loser side and still in
Parica and Davenport have a match tomarrow on the winners side. Winner of that play's for hot seat.
Morro's in.
Tadd is out.
Melissa's
Herndon, Little, and Morris, are out.

I Hope I didn't make any mistakes, but that it what I can remember.. Final 8 is tomarrow.

Shirley and I showed up about 9:00 PM, in time to see Bobby Hunter and Moro both advance.

Bobby then played Efren, winning the first two games but couldn't hold the lead, then he played a bad safety in the last game. I think the final score was 6-4.

While their match was going on, Marshall Jung missed a couple shots and went down hard to Robert Marshall, and Ernesto Dominquez beat a pretty good player (can't remember his name). It was a close match, with many good safeties.

Too many projects to catch up on today, so we can't go see the finals.

I can't go back today either (it's like 90 miles from my house). I saw the Kim Davenport - Melissa Little match. Kim played near flawlessly - it was some pretty spectacular 9 ball.
