Short video - supporting a good cause

Note: This has nothing to do with straight pool.

I have made a video of me shooting one-handed/jacked up - the video is at this link...

One Handed/Jacked Up

I am planning to attend the 2009 Parkinson's Unity Walk that will be held in April 2009 in NYC. When the exact date for this event is set, I am planning to do another 24 hour/10,000 ball marathon to raise money for Parkinson's Research.

I will be looking for a room that would be willing to donate 2 tables (and the table time) for either a straight 24 hour period... or 2 days (12 hours a day).

There is a possibility that I will do a few of these throughout February, March, and April. If your room is interested in hosting one of these fundraisers, let me know. The event in NYC is very important... I would like to present a nice check to the organization on behalf of the billiards community. That would be some very positive exposure for our game and our industry.

I'll keep everybody updated on the status of these fundraisers periodically. In the meantime, enjoy the video. It's poor quality, but not bad shooting (for a C Player Wannabe)

Sorry I can't help with a room for you but I gotta tell you that it just pisses me off that no matter how hard I try I can't play as well with both hands and a sound 65 yr old body as you play one handed jacked up. :(

Good shootin Dave. I hope you can get lots of interest generated and lots of $$$$$ for the cause.

That 14th shot was awesome!

Jeff Livingston

LOL - thanks Jeff!

That shot is the perfect example of something that I was taught a long time ago by a very wise man:

"Crappy position is the grandfather of spectacular shotmaking"

:happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

another 10k marathon !!

(ps will somebody be keeping stats?)

superb. I really have thought of doing the same her in europe, but i think i'll need to get my physics (stop smoking and drinking like a pig) and become a better player to even think about starting it.

I admire you for your posts, your knowledge, your readyness to help less players out, your hearth for good causes, and im glad you are back blackjack .

I would have chosen the 6 ball before the 9 ball, and you seem to struggle with your end pattern. I also noticed that you lack a shot-routine. I think your game can improve pretty much if you will slow down on certain shots ;)

Great thing you are doing David! Good luck with your project!

Appears that new table has produced videos of someone being real MODEST and showing us not one but TWO successfull runouts on the 9 ball cuetable layout and accomplishing it on the FIRST try and now a critique of someone else shooting with one hand - Calling LINE KJOERSVIK!!!

Roy mentioned you struggle with end patterns. Yeah right, I would have preferred watching you play good position on the last ball and proceed with breaking the rack and running some 40ies:thumbup: I even thought my dream could come true when you bumped the ball for a correct position to make a break, though it was clear the video won't last longer.
Like JimS I can state that I will never be able to run a racj in this fashion even shooting my common way...

That was great Blackjack, awesome. Thanks. And the video perfectly illustates the idea you put behind it. "Never give up", so probably I could be a match too someday ;)

LOL

I would have tried to get a good 14.1 run on video (one-handed) but I doubt it would be more than 14 balls. I haven't mastered the 1- handed straight pool break shot yet. Those that have seen me play can attest to the fact that I still haven't mastered the traditional two handed straight pool break shot either.

Life goes on.

LOL

I am glad everybody enjoyed the video!
