shotmaker test

I have never been a huge fan of drills. however, i did give yours a go the other day and the one thing I did notice is that it does take concentration. I can play a half decent game if i am thinking right, or should i say not overthinking, or something, but the mind has to be right and drills might be a good way to train the brain.
the family is going out in a couple hours, i will try again. if it's not to embarrasing i'll put the video up
thx.

NEVER shoot a ball, if you are not 100% sure to make it or if you have ANY negative thought!
This is a great example why the PAUSE is extemly important-also called *point of no return*. This is really something you should include into your PSR my friend :-)

have a smooth stroke,
Ingo

Yea, I hear you! Actually I've taken a break from working on my PSR at all, or even thinking about it, based on some good advice I got. I'll get back to it shortly. Normally I try to have a distinct pause at the ball, maybe 1 second or so, before shooting, I think I did this while shooting but maybe not. I was rushing a bit to try and stay under the time limit for posting.

Frankly for me, the pause won't help too much with the feeling I have. I still have to develop the consciousness to get up when I have the feeling. I know why I'm like that - I used to hate seeing people get up on shots all the time, Kim Davenport was a big offender back in the day. I equated that with slow play and it drove me nuts. However, every good player I watch backs off a shot from time to time, and as long as it's not every shot or multiple shots every rack then there really is nothing wrong with it. Knowing and doing are two different things... I'm hoping to start playing regular weekly tournaments again soon, so hopefully when it matters a bit more I will develop that good habit which will translate to my practice and practice-play as well.

Thanks!
Scott

@8pack:
Very impressive performance!
Send me your e-mail adress via personal message and you will get the SEE-System for free.
As you don't seem to need any more advice on aiming it might be interesting for you concerning it's position play section...

Keep hitting them BUTCHER :-)

I done a shorter version of the drill. The music mite not
be to everyones liking .lol

Well done! Cool rhythm. Music takes a little getting used to - especially following the intro…

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

8pack--

The music was very interesting. Firstly-- great job on your video. You're obviously a super, super player. Whenever people post shot-test videos, it's always best to do it without cuts/edits -- just raw video from start to finish (I think your Colin-Test was that way).

Otherwise, it's the equivalent of "saving your game" in a video game at each cut/milestone. Not saying at all that you did that -- but shot test videos should be unedited, raw uncut videos.

Before you know it, you'll have people like Dr. Dave creating "ta-da" cuts after every few shots and saying he scored 100%.

Super job, by the way -- and I dig your music :)

I just wanted to do the drill and not make it long and drawn out.
Also i broke it down into 2 parts for a couple of reasons.Work on one part and when you feel comfortable move to the next. Also i knew i could break it up into 2 parts with out a miss.
As for the music i like all kinds but im a Zakk Wylde type of guy at heart.;) Sorry if some didnt like it.
Wish more people would post videos,it would be nice to see how some people on here play.

I'm not too educated in regards to Zakk outside of him playing with Ozzy. I never said I didn't like it-- just that it was interesting :)

Nice shooting 8pack!

One thing I liked about the drill was it hammered home how if you shoot at slower speeds, or use stun instead of follow or firm draw, or are closer to the ball, you definitely have to make some minor adjustments. I definitely prefer to play the shots the way you did, with follow and with some speed.

Impressive...

Thanks Scott. I agree with everything your saying.
Adjustments will always have to be made.

Ive tried to upload my video 4 times after making adjustments and youtube kept deleating it, so I had to shorten it a few minutes to get it to stick.

If this doesnt qualify me let me know and Ill try to do it faster to get the whole test in or maybe just upload the last five minutes. I really want the book and dvd :)

This is actually something that will go into my normal practice routine, was more challenging than I expected it to be.

So here is my gag-fest

Honestly, I see no useful purpose in creating and posting a video of me running through a shot-making drill, other than to show off or prove that Eric and Spidey are better shot makers than me. (I already know that.) Usually, I only dedicate time to creating and posting videos that are instructional and potentially beneficial for people to watch. I don't think most people are interested in watching somebody making (and/or missing) a bunch of cut shots. Shot-making drills are useful for practicing and assessing one's shot-making improvement (or lack of improvement) over time, but they are not much fun to watch, IMO. :boring2:

But since this seems to be so important to both of you guys, I will find some time over the next few weeks to do what you ask. I know you probably want it sooner, but it is just not possible with my professional and personal schedule over the next two weeks.

I think we should also post videos of us urinating to see how far each of us can pee. That way the pissing contest can be complete so we can really see where we each stack up on the manliness scale. :p

FYI, I'm not serious about the pissing contest, but I will post the video you guys have been craving for so many years. I guess I should somehow feel flattered or honored by all of the attention. Hopefully, the video will help you guys find the satisfaction or peace you seem to need and want so desperately. :frown:

Regards,
Dave

PS: I will post the video and reply to this message when it is available. And if I don't get it done within three weeks, feel free to remind me and insult me some more if you so desire.

So, Mr. Alciatore, how's that video coming?

Eric

This is still on my list of things to do, but it honestly is not high priority, and it keeps getting moved further down on my list.

I'm sorry to disappoint you. I know this is very important to you. Unfortunately, it isn't that important to me.

Again, if you want to see examples of me shooting, buy VEPS and VEPP.

Regards,
Dave
