Should I ask for a spot?

If any of you noticed, RiverCity is down here in Portland and was looking for a game. I wanted to meet up with somebody new and play a little.

Well, we met up at Hot Shots in Beaverton. I'm not used to big tables and could tell he was taking it easy on me. Fast forward another week or so ... We met up yesterday at Classic's. He ropes me into a game for a soda and snaps it off like it was nothing. So, my question is.. well, two questions: Do you think this was a planned hustle? Should I ask for weight on the next bet?

Yes, I would ask for the......Orange Crush  badum dum dum!

I think you should continue to play even and put a booger in his drink. It will be the best ass whuppin you ever got.

Oh, I like that idea. I'll have to work my negotiating magic.. tell him I stubbed my toe earlier in the day or something.

Doh.

No boogers! I was never into eating them, so the thought of drinking them is worse even if it's somebody else.

Don't let Banks fool ya, he's got game. And oddly enough, he does like to play banks. Go figure. ....
Chuck----->The more expensive the drink, the better I seem to play. ;)

Oh and as far as boogers go, paybacks are a *****

I'll be a nice guy and I'll allow myself to play for a burger and you only have to give me the 8. I almost want to hit myself just for letting you sucker me into such a bet. :speechless:

The more expensive, huh? I'm not sure I know the names of anything that costs more than $10. :o

Do like everyone else does after they lose the first set. Cry that you need weight, or quit.:D

I'd never ask for weight playing for a drink and would never give any either. Have some pride man. If a better player agreed to play me and took it easy on me I'd buy him a drink anyway for his time. I doubt anyone would set someone up in hopes of hustling a soda out of them in the future anyway.

Were you doggin it because the bet was too high?? Are you hoping he is reading this and you are trying to hustle him? Are you trying to hustle us in to thinking you have to ask us if you need weight to play for a soda?
Do you really think someone is going to spend the table time to hustle you out of a soda?

P.S. Orange Crush was the best answer you are going to get from anyone.;)

I'm just messing around, guys. He's a good shot and fun to play with. We've played a couple of times on the big tables, so next I want to try him on the diamond boxes. I did lose the soda frame, but eked out the set. See you next time, Chuck. :)

:eek::eek::eek:;):
We'll see who has to stop at 7-11 on the way home cause they're parched.

I'll be in Lincoln City for the 9 ball shoot in Oct, if you guys are there, I'll buy you both a soda.

If I run out of soda funds, we could always play for cues and/or cases!

Chuck, I think we're being high-rolled. :(

I know I've got a team set up for October, but unsure if I'll be able to justify the time off for the singles, which really bums me out. If nothing else, I'll be spending quite a bit of my free time in the side room. ;)

Yeah he is slow playing you for sodas, avoid him at all costs.

Christ, just ask for the 5 out, and adjust from there.

Exactly what I would have suggested! Still haven't seen you play but your actions have spoken loudly. 90% of gambling is making the game. If you don't ask for weight, he sure isn't going to volunteer it  !!!! No mercy  .

Incidentally, a shot glass of Laphroaig single malt might be $10. The first one is on me when we finally meet.

I think people took that first post a little too seriously. Heck, if I can, I prefer to give weight. I don't think that's going to happen here, but I may be able to give up a ball in banks. Not sure, though. Hard to gauge somebody's game over just a few hours of playing. Besides, I'd rather introduce him to people he can make games with, especially knowing that he couldn't get much out of me. There was one person barking at me the other day while we were playing, but it was another local A asking me for a spot. :scratchhead:

If you play at Luke's speed, I'd probably need the wild/called 8 or something. Of course, if we're not going to meet up until next year, that may change. ;) I just hope that if I go to APA singles again, I can get into the same bracket portion I was in this year. I kept hearing horror stories from the good 9s. Good thing I've started "calibrating" one of my aiming problems.. finally starting to look like I know what I'm doing. Laphr.. laphro.. ok, well, you'll also have to order it, because I don't think I can pronounce it.

Now gents, all this talk about spots is making me see spots.
I'll tell ya the same thing I told the last guy that asked me for a spot.

I'll take you to the pound and get you a dog, you can call him whatever you want.......
