Should Jeanette Lee Forfeit Matches

I think you also have to consider what the purpose of that rule is. I would think the purpose is to have people look professional. I don't think she looks unprofessional in that picture. Also, imo, women look ridiculous wearing things like tuxedo vests.

Tell that to Alison who usually wears a very nice dress vest for the loyalty to her country. ;)

Actually I think her attire is part of her professional image that she has made for herself over the years. I personally do not know if I have ever not seen her wearing all black with or without extra skin showing. I believe she has earned her choice of attire by her notariety she brings to any tournament.

Basically if you allow her to sign up for a tournament expect the "Black Widow" to show up and play wearing her version of the Superman/Spiderman/Wonder Woman outfit. It is her motiff and she has earned it in my opinion.

Snap,
You are SO right. Television ratings for her matches are far higher than any other player; part of ESPN's desire to have "Black Widow Weekends" and to press her into service commentating at the ESPY awards, pool tournaments, and even BOWLING for heaven's sakes.

Steve Tipton told a group of us that the WPBA did a "recognizability" national survey. A huge percentage (above 50%, I'm thinking he said 60-some %) of random people on the street recognized Jeanette Lee as a pool player. It was less than 5% for any other living pool player (male or female). Those numbers place her among the elite of athletes in any sport; major or minor.

I think two posts by the same person about the same subject makes them appear to be a little "psycho".

Just think this same subject [Dress Code] was brought up [20] Twenty years ago.

Dress code controversy
In August 1987, at the annual B.C. Classic hosted at a Holiday Inn in Binghamton, New York, Balukas was slated for competition in both divisions. After arriving, she discovered that for evening-scheduled matches she would be required to wear formal attire that she did not have with her. The men's division, by contrast, had no similar dress code. Balukas took a stand that the women should not be treated differently than the men, and accordingly refused to procure garments that would meet the unequal mandate.

I can't understand why you would even think about asking "Should Jeanette Lee forfeit her matches?". She's probably the most recognized female player playing today and having her in a tournament can only be a PLUS! Jeanette brightens the scenery and is a class act IMO.....

Maybe something can be learned from Jeanette and her success? I would venture to say that the stuffy formal wear idea is no longer relevant to this day and age. Since Jeanette is so popular and loved within and outside of the pool community, then maybe adjusting more to her style would benefit the sport as a whole. Definitely shouldn't be asking her to forfeit a match... talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
