I think he was an already banned poster. The poster is what is banned not a particular handle so when a big commotion is made about an already banned poster, . . . .

Okay. I must have missed something. Must have been a PM or something, because I never saw what everyone's having a fit about. Can someone explain to me what The Woim might have done to get banned? Whatever it is, it seems way too easy and I want to make sure I don't do it. I would have thought that RZ would have been banned for the threatening comments, since Wilson gave a warning. I didn't see any warning for The Woim. What did I miss?
Being annoying is aggravating, but if that's cause for being banned, I can think of a huge amount of posters that should be banned. Of course, this forum wouldn't be worth posting in without them, because most of them do contribute useful conversation, too.

The local bookie says it's long odds-on favourite that after the site admin took a closer look at The Woim they found that his IP address was that of another previous user banned in the past or that it indicated a duplicate user name which isn't allowed.
"The Woim" from "Belleville,Illinois" signing off posts with "from the desk of the one eyed jack" is an individual with a long history of making snide and obnoxious posts and/or generally creating discontent on other forums. A simple search for The Woim on any search engine will throw up examples.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what was up. From a newbie's point of view, it almost looked a bit like the wrong guy got busted, just from the temper and threats I saw. Neither of the posters were ever a problem to me, but I thought it might not hurt to ask what happened and also to point out what it looked like from all that was visible to me.

I find him an annoying personality, but nothing banworthy. I think the way he always refers to himself in the third person and comes across as snobbish kind of excites the 'lord of the flies' instinct in all of us. Kind of like how you just wanted to punch the brainy smurf types in high school rather than gently encourage them to develop some social skills and hope they grow up a bit.
