Should tournaments ban the use of bar-box tables?

.........:boring2:

I think it would be better if your opponent would share their $10 piece of chalk, instead of leaving it on the table, then during your turn at the table, with their chalk still on the top rail, telling you you can' use it.

That happens?! I'd toss it on the floor away from the table. Don't leave your sh!t on the table when you're turn is over if you're that picky about it.

I think Europe and Asia playing on 9' tables puts them at an unfair advantage on the world stage, where everything is on 9-foot tables. The rest of the world should bend to our will and adopt the bar box, seeing as how we're AMERICA and we set the example for everyone else to follow. As soon as they adopt to our standard, SVB may never be beaten again. He might one-up Mosconi and go over 527 consecutive tournament wins, all because of the smaller tables.

Any bar slob with a warped cue can run the table on a bar box. It takes no skill to pocket that long 3 foot shot.
I watch the leagues face off for their matches on several small bar boxes. Most of those guys come in with enough pool equipment to climb Mt. Everest.
Hey, it's revenue the room owner needs to stay in business, so God Bless them if they're having fun.

In a perfect World we would all be playing on a 10 ft table.

Bar Boxes have their place in our sport.

I wonder what would happen if bar tables stopped being made, and Diamond (for example) decided to only make 9 and 10 foot tables. Would the sport of pool completely die, or would everyone learn to play (and have fun) by just playing on the big regulation size tables? I understand that this would only happen in the dreams of the players who love the big tables, and hate bar box pool tables, but it is just a thought.

I just don't understand the thinking of this country in wanting to kill defenseless little baby tables. If you kill off all the babies tables, where will the big tables come from?? You people didn't even think that far ahead, did you?

You kill off the baby tables, and in a few short years you will be playing on the carpet and marking out pockets with your chalk. Those bigger, older tables won't be around forever you know.

I was pretty young when 9' tables started replacing 10' tables, but I don't remember all this chatter about it. Johnnyt

politically correct world....... should tournaments ban the use of what is now a baby/obsolete table?

I can see players protesting to directors because they don't want to be play another player who has played on a bar-box.
deemed by the laws of some states

disallow a table the government now deem baby pool.

Where in the hell do you get your information from to make statements like you did....the National Inquire?

ok seriously, where are all these bar tables at? My main hall has nothing but 9 footers. the overwhelming majority of pool halls I frequent have 9 footers. the only place i have ever seen a bar box are at dive bars and are there even any serious players there? none that I've seen.

I Be been cold brewing my own for six months now. I'll never go back to drinking hot coffee. My kuerig is gathering dust. Smooth as silk and chock full of caffeine.

I drink sanka mixed with early times when I play bar box pool.

10' to 9' = 19% decrease in playing surface

9' to 7' = 38% decrease in playing surface.....that's HUGE

in terms of chatter news travels much faster by the web vs pony express:grin-square:

It's also huge to play on a bar table all the time.....and then have to play on a 9ft at some pool hall because they don't want to put in any bar tables....that's HUGE.....so, the leagues boycott the pool hall as they don't have the right size tables....then the next thing ya know....the pool rooms closed down because they can't get enough business from all their dedicated 9ft players.....to stay in business!!!

The biggest pool tournaments on the planet are held on 7ft.pool tables, BCA nations just finished up in Vegas....with over 300 7ft Diamond bar tables! Where are ALL the 9fts at?? When was the last time you seen or went to a pool tournament that had over 100 9fts Un use at one time?

Not only that but right next door to him, in the Bronx, was once the largest pool hall in the country. I spent countless hours there as a teen. It has bowling upstairs and pool downstairs, and then pool became so popular that they ripped out the bowling alley and it was pool everywhere.

It closed down and turned into a church. I'm not sure what it is now.

Lets face it this is a politically correct world and should tournaments ban the use of what is now a baby/obsolete table?

I can see players protesting to directors because they don't want to be play another player who has played on a bar-box.

If a player is playing on a bar-box, deemed by the laws of some states, than how can we trust him to win a world title?

I really don't care but since this is a hot topic would it be just better to disallow a table the government now deem baby pool.

Um...didn't pool start out on larger tables? Wasn't the bar box a more recent development to appeal to space considerations in a bar or tavern type environment?

I would say that bar tables should definitely not be banned in bar table tournaments. It would cause some serious roadblocks there. No one is required to play on a bar table if they don't want to. No one is required to play 3 cushion billiards either, or snooker, or compete in any one of the vast array of race car classifications, or fly in a Boeing A320 airbus, or wear Levis jeans, or smoke blue dream over bubble gum. But like, um, those options are out there.

What method do you use? I got a kit that I put one pound of coffee in, fill it up with water, and let it sit overnight. It takes about 20 minutes to drain out through the filter the next day, and then I have coffee concentrate for a week. I dilute it somewhere between 2-1 and 5-1 water to coffee concentrate. My wife drinks it with milk; I take it black. Then I go play some bar box pool. Hope I don't get arrested.

I empty some water out of a gallon of spring water. I put three cups coffee in, then fill the rest with spring water. I let it sit for forty eight hours, a gentle mix around two or three times. I filter through a cheap fine mesh basket filter. I was using paper to get out the fine sediment, but I find just sitting in the fridge all of that sediment settles to the bottom anyway. I use it at just that strength. If I buy so pound of coffee I'll just split it in half and do two gallons. This strength of perfect for me. Using two cups will give you iced coffee that is just about as strong as coffee shop iced coffee.

I was brewing the concentrate but i couldn't help but drink it at full strength. For the sake of my sanity i fine tuned this method for the perfect strength. What kind of code do you use? I found a couple fantastic medium roast espressos that are perfect for this method. I've found nothing commercially available, i.e. grocery store that works as well. I may have to just bite the bullet and keep buying craft coffee.

So this is relevant, bar boxes suck! Ban then all!
