Silliest thing you spent money on that is pool related?

The silliest thing I ever bought in pool (and I have bought some dumb stuff)
were these balls:

SKIDDLES.jpg

They should be called skiddles instead of skittles

If anything jump cues made saftey play better. You have to freeze them to a ball or close to it. No more weak lay-ups

A qPod belt clip. I won the qPod chalk holder at SBE a few years ago, then I got suckered into spending $35 for the matching belt clip so I could have my handy on my hip when I was at the pool room I never go to.

Almost equally silly was the $30 cube of low deflection (AKA Kamui) chalk I bought. What can I say? I just had to know. Now I know. Yes, it does make a mess of the cloth and the CB, and you still miscue if you hit it bad.

My wife bought me 2 $35 cubes of that lipstick chalk. It stuck on the tip good but, it also stuck to everything else...like the CB. Johnnyt

The owner of the poolhall I go to wanted to ban Kamui chalk for a while. That stuff is like paint, it gets all over everything and is hard to get out. Cleaning the tables took way longer, even the balls had to be run extra long in the polisher. Luckily the fad kind of faded and now only a very few persist in using it. Guess the novelty wore off. IMO is one of the worst inventions in pool.

Apa

Hey all,

Just wanted to start a fun thread. I know golfers are normally the ones associated with spending money on things they don't really need but I am curious what gizmos or even just accessories everyone has bought that they never use.

When I first started playing I bought the most expensive chalk clip I could find.......and was damn proud of that thing. The funny part about it was that I had some master chalk in it (not kamui or even some moderately priced chalk)........and master chalk was already on every table I played on.

Interested to hear some others and curious if anyone bought one of those cues with the laser coming out the end of it.

Might as well throw my hat into this thread... lol

1. APA membership
2. Tip Pic
3. 4,5,6,7 cues
4. Glove (neat idea, but totally ruins the feel of the shot)
5. Shaft Sleeves (that's what a case is for)

Ohhh the money I could have saved... lol :grin::grin:

"Silliest thing you spent money on that is pool related?"

All the LD shafts that I bought because I fell for the "LD makes my game better".
What utter bs.

Ld shafts are not a fix all by any means. But they reduce the guess work out of deflection.

I spent 20 plus hours when i first got my LD shaft shooting only center ball and adjusting to the reduced deflection that the cue ball has. It was a learning curve for sure.

But i will never play with a regular shaft again.

If you can deliver the cue ball to the object ball on target consistantley, your game will improve. LD shafts take away some of the guess work and let you focus point A and B.:smile:

Silly stuff

You should try 3c sometime

I used to play a little 3c... still have a Martin cue I used to play billiards with.. 3c is a whole other world... def helps your kicking game.

I'd like to see one 9 or 10 ball tournament with no jump sticks allowed, call the cheese.

Now about those Skittles balls...

Balabushka Chalk.

I hear Kamui is messy ... couldn't be any messier than this crap, it's almost like blue paint.

Can't handle a week lay up? Play some 3 cushion sometime and you will learn how to kick.

I know how to kick without 3c. And I know how to jump better than just about everyone on AZB. Because I have learned how to do both and practiced both skills.

Sometimes the jump is the right shot and sometimes the kick is the right shot, got to know how to do both and how to defend against both.

Jumping should be banned from pool, with jump sticks anyway. Takes the art of the safety and the art of kicking out of the game.

Guess I am going to have to make a video about this to dispel this notion.

Then I will just post it every time someone says this.

I can play a lil 3c, brought my position play and kicks to another level. I also agree with j.b.

I don't doubt you can jump. One video or a thousand videos doesn't matter. Jumping to me is cheating and should be banned. The rails are there for banking, position play, and KICKING. End of story.
