Silliest thing you spent money on that is pool related?

I don't doubt you can jump. One video or a thousand videos doesn't matter. Jumping to me is cheating and should be banned. The rails are there for banking, position play, and KICKING. End of story.

Are you saying its cheating because it changes the integrity of the game? Ex. Like in one pocket or straightpool.

Ok. Got to be passionate about something in life I guess. I knew a guy who wanted us to return to the use of a mace because he thinks being able to spin the cue ball is cheating and takes all the skill out of the game. At the very least he wants to ban chalk.

The integrity of the game? What game....all games we play have been in a constant state of change since their invention.

Silliest thing to buy in pool....the idea that any era was the golden age where all innovation should have stopped.

Waiting for you to chime in JB. You are reducing an argument, which is really not an argument just an opinion, to absurdity. Nothing fruitful ever comes from a viewpoint that is reducto ad absurdum. It is simply my opinion. Jump away if you feel like it. I think it takes the art of kicking out of the game is all.

It's cool you are entitled to your opinion just not your own facts. And the facts are that more people know how to kick and have more resources to learn to kick than ever before.

Kicking can be learned in five minutes. It isn't some mysterious art.

God bless them. It should be that way for 9 and 8 ball. Can you imagine a jump shot in one pocket? Laughable.

Yes. Jump shots are not forbidden in one hole. I have jumped the stack before to get out of the break.

On the subject of silly things I have bought though......

I had this bridge where you would stick the cue through a rotating hole so you could bridge over balls in tricky situations and just lift the bridge to get it out of the way. I used it in a game for several thousand and tried to lift it and it fell over and scattered the balls.

That was a really stupid purchase.....although I guess I probably should have practiced using it before pulling it out in a money match.

Really? What did they call that bridge, thats new to me.

It was back in the mid 90s. Long forgotten.

I don't see a jump cue .
I was sitting next to Efren at the Bike back in '05.
He played a good safe on someone . Dude pulled out his jump cue.
Efren said, ' Putang-ina. Dapat bawal yan." ( Trans: SOB, that shit should be illegal ).
And Efren was breaking and jumping with an Andy b/j cue in the tournament.
Charlie Williams said on the PA, if Efren is jumping, everyone should get a jumper.
I like the old PBT rule. You are allowed to two full-length cues .
I like jumpers though b/c kicking at my local hall is an adventure. Every other table banks different.

A jump cue in one-hole is just sacrilegious. That's like aluminum bat at the MLB level.

Someday I will come across the video where Efren uses a jump cue. He owns one and uses it. His best buddy Busty is an accomplished jumper with the jump cue and without.

Earl used a 54" cue to jump with for a long time, i.e. a jump cue. Anyway.....this is way off topic. I am out on the topic of jump cues in this thread. I vote good addition to the game and not silly one.

I saw him jump in the same tourney.

Interesting thread topic. I think I have a few to list.

1. Brass chalk holder. Thought it looked cool when I was a kid, but it was cheap metal not actually brass. It couldn't be engraved and the opening at the top was too small.

2. Ultimate tip shaper. Wanted it because it was a shaper, tapper, burnisher, but it's not great at any of those things.

3. Liquid shaft cleaner. Forget the exact name of the product, but you were supposed to wipe it on and have a clean sluck shaft but instead it gunked mine up. I've been paranoid about using any qwax or anything ever since.

Very first cue that I ever bought was a Pamela Anderson cue from Spencers Gifts in the mall. I was about 16 years old and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Shaft was warped from the get go.
