Siming Chen vs Donny Mills

The race to 15 I saw posted by Ariel Roy went hill hill. They both made enough errors to say either could have one. It's a good matchup and something different. Should be a good match. Mills has a very high hear when he hits it, which these averages don't fully capture.

Maybe they played a second time but the first one was not hill hill unless i am really losing it. Simeng jumped out to a big lead. Donny came back late to make it respectable but he never got to the hill. That's how i remember it.

The score on youtube is wrong. Its 15-13.

There's a post from Donny himself in that thread.

how is that fargo calculated, is it mixed matches that counts for chen? i mean she is higher up than gomez, hohmann, busty, deuel, ruslan.. how can that be?

The Fargo guy had explained it before, his reply sounds somewhat reasonable.

But judging from a small sample size if she can perform at that level on every match, I can see her being 750+.

Successful breaks 10/14
BNR rate 4/14 29%
BNR rate on successful breaks 4/10 40%

I'm excited to see more match-ups between her and other players around her rating (all of which are men) to find out if she can maintain such a high level. If so, we could definitely be witnessing the greatest female player ever to pick up a cue.

Regarding how the fargo calculations work, gender isn't taken into account at all, it's all just about who's beaten whom. So if women and men NEVER played against each other, then fargo ratings wouldn't be comparable between women and men. But as long as enough intergender matches occur, women's ratings and men's ratings should be directly comparable.

Think of it like this: I mostly play against players from my area, so can fargo tell me how I compare against players from the other side of the country? The reason it can is because there are enough matches between players from different vicinities for the system to be consistent across geographical boundaries. The same goes for gender boundaries.

I think this will be an interesting match. However it’s not going to prove that she can play with men at the same rating as her as she is 34 points higher than Donny in fargorate. I haven’t seen her play a whole lot but she does play very well. The only way to find out if she can compete with the men at the same level as her is to play one or more of them in some kind of long race. She has to beat Donny first. I’m not saying that she can’t compete with the men but I can’t see her beating Ruslan

I agree, I'm hoping she'll beat Donny and go on to match up more with higher-rated men. Nothing against Donny, I just think it would be way more interesting if we were in fact witnessing the greatest female player of all time by a wide margin. That would be a pretty cool thing to watch happen.

And at the same time, if Donny beats her convincingly, it will add evidence that Fargo ratings as they currently stand are not coupled well for the top women pros. Plenty of people will be betting on Donny even though he is a huge underdog according to Fargorate.

1 match doesnt mean crap as far as fargorate being accurate, I just dont understand why people cannot figure out that Fargorate is an average.

If the player played at their exact Fargorate every time, then Shane would win every match over 10 games or so.

The people on this forum amaze me.

If you like Donny, come to the action room - I'm open for at least $600 more.

Matches and tournaments like this are something that could create more interest in the sport of Pool. There are very few sports where men and women can compete on equal terms, but Pool is one where they can.

Now if I were a promoter.........

I agree Jay!!!!!

This type of match is the GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG.

Extremely big opportunity!!!!!!! What you want to bet that it will not be taken as serious as it should and will end the end..... be treated like any other match.

What is that say? Oh yeah, strike while the iron is hot. Well gentlemen, the iron is red.
