I recently had a Simonis 860HR Tournament Blue cloth installed on my table. After playing on it for about an hour I am noticing dark streaks (skid marks) on it. What should I use to clean the cloth. My installer told me but I forgot already:smile:

Thanks in advance

Just out of curiosity, what tip do you have on your cue? I started using kamui black SS which is a great tip but when it was new it left some black marks on my cloth. (draw shots )

I just used a damp cloth and it came off.

I suggest only use a vacuum with a brush attachment (not a spinning brush). Then wipe down the rails (not the cushions) with a damp cloth and dry with a towel.

Try not to use a damp cloth on the cloth unless you have to as this will slow down the cloth. Every couple months or so use a damp cloth but not for every cleaning.

those dark streaks on tournament blue 860 is usually just blue master's chalk, which is darker than the felt and looks extra dark when it ends up on the table via cue strokes, etc.

vacuum + brush, or just brush it away...or a barely damp cloth if it's really necessary

.

You can use a vacuum.

You can also use a micro fiber cloth. Just fold it into a pad and "brush" across the table. You will get the feel when you try it.

Don't recommend a damp or wet cloth. All that will do is make a paste. Google how a micro fiber cloth works to see the principle on how it works by building up a static electro charge. If the cloth is damp it defeats the purpose.

i'm going to start using fire to clean mine with. Shitmonis has ruined it shaving it so close to the weave why not burn off the rest of the fuzz?

When I had my Simonis 860HR installed I bought the Simonis X-1. Have used nothing else to clean the cloth. The X-1 does a great job with no need for anything else. Avoid using water on the cloth and avoid vacuuming. If you don't want to spend the money for the X-1, others have recommended just using a micro-fiber cloth. This should work well also.

I've been using the X1 for about 9 months. It works great. I also agree that blue chalk comes up darker on the cloth (tournament blue).

I started with a new stick on a new cloth. It's made by Dan Dishsaw out of Syracuse and he installed a Kamui tip (medium) on it.

Thanks to all...

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm glad I read all of these posts before I used my pressure washer on it

Chris....AWESOME video...how often do you have to change your cloth? Do you do trick shot exhibitions?

Final Solution to my problem

I followed my installers advice and bought an attachment for my shop vac from Sears. It is for a Hoover vacumn cleaner and fits perfect. It is about 6 inches wide with a brush about 1/8 inch wide on it. I tried it yesterday and it works great...it looks just like when it was installed.

Be careful using a wet cloth, I use clay balls and the skid marks turn to mud when they get wet. Try shooting though mud tracks.

As an alternative I use my son's Fisher Price bulldozer to clean up the clay. Not only is it fancy, it's fun too!

Thanks, yes the trick shots take a horrible toll on the cloth. I was scheduled to be at the last artistic cup challenge but I had to cancel because of a death in the family.

Since I put a new cloth on my table the trick shots have taken a back seat and I have dedicated my time to improving my 8,9, and 10 ball game. It took me almost a year to get back into playing form.

Enjoy your new cloth.

Green Chalk

I use green chalk instead and it seems better on the blue cloth.

I use a small vaccum to get the loose chalk. About once a week.

I use this every time I am done playing!

blue coral upholstery cleaner and yes it is safe for simonis cloth. Also use a microfiber wand I have to wipe it after spraying the blue coral on.

This has been the best thing I can find and the can last a long time! Also just rip the brush off the can so nobody screws up and tries to use it on your table.

Also make sure to clean your billiard balls often!

Has anyone tried spraying a horsehair brush with Endust and sweeping lightly in one direction? I have not tried it on the Simonis but did this with my old Fuzzy covered Gandy and it worked well.

Chalk-off spray and micro-fiber brush... That or vaccum the cloth. Only two ways to get it clen without damaging the cloth :thumbup2:
