I'm about to set up my GCI and want to get some opinions on cloth. I have 860 on my table now so I know how that plays. Does the HR have less burn marks and lines from the break and jumps?
What does the HR stand for?
Thoughts?
Thanks.

HR - High resistance

From what I have heard around here RKC has said that 860HR will take alot more abuse than 860

I've worked with this cloth once at the alsip seminar and its alot stiffer than 860 so if your installing it yourself take your time on the rails.

Frank is correct but to add -
860HR will also show ball marks but not quite as much as reg 860.
Regular maintenance along with a damp cloth wipedown will keep either looking better longer.
HR is also a bit faster.

I had considered this same situation last year. I like to do jump shots and wanted to try to reduce the amount of little white burn marks on my table. My table tech called Simonis to talk to them about it and they suggested to go with the normal 860 for a home table. In fact, they highly discourage the HR for anything but a high traffic pool hall. The HR will NOT reduce the burn marks.

WHO at Simonis told YOU that line of bullshit???

The 860HR

The 860HR is not sheared right down to the cloth but instead a few thousandths of fuzz is left on the cloth. Regular 860 will develop this fuzz after a couple of months of play. Therefore, the 860HR plays somewhat like broken in 860 and doesn't have that initial slickness. It leaves less ball marks and lasts a lot longer. And, I was told, the HR initially stood for Humidity Resistant but was changed as other attributes came out.

lol..I see some of the misinformation was already addressed.

this is all you need to know, to make the choice the rest is just words, i have used both,

Words:
i have HR on my diamond, and regular on my GC5.

I like the HR on the diamond box cause of the fast rails, and I like regular on the GC cause it plays just right. IMO you should match the tires to the car and cloth to the table, and tip to the cue.etc.

I have no idea who at Simonis told him that. I was not on the call.

Your table tech probably heard something incorrectly if they discussed cloth speed.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with putting 860HR on a home table.
