Simonis X-1 -- six months later.

I'm a complete believer. Sometimes I brush afterward, but only for old-time's sake. And I bought this tool with some strong skepticism, despite the manufacturer's reputation.

Turns out Simonis got it right -- and I've got no stake in that outfit other than a happy customer. My 760 looks nearly as good today as it did when installed.

The X-1 only works on Simonis worsted wool, so far as I know, so felted tables won't benefit.

Nice review.
The tool will also work on other brand worsted cloths but not recommended for any napped cloths or worsted cloth treated with teflon (ex. Bwick Centennial).

Got mine for Christmas after recovering with Simonis 860 Tournament Blue. Have used nothing but the X-1 and the cloth looks brand new. I'm really happy with mine. A bit pricey but I feel it's well worth it.

I've had mine for one year now, and am completely satisfied. It works just as advertised. I occasionally brush under the rails and wipe with a slightly damp cloth every month or so. Other than that, I've used only the X-1 and the cloth is in great condition. Fine product.

Another thing

what is this x-1?

It's the Simonis tool for cleaning worsted wool cloth.

One thing about it, you don't use it as a brush. Apparently it's better to swirl it around rather than brush from foot-spot to head-spot. Don't ask me why.

Possibility of pictures perhaps? And what do you use to clean it off after you do the table, vacuum/hit it with your hand/etc.

I bought the X-1 after recovering my table with tournament blue Simonis. I use a chalk that really contrasts the cloth. The X-1 removes the chalk but I found that any micro fiber cloth works just as good. Wish that I known that before I spent $90.00.

Save your money and use a micro fiber cloth. Use it dry, if you use a wet cloth it defeats the effect.

Would it be an acceptable table cleaner for a poolhall? A cranky dude who cleans the poolroom told me his boss got a couple and they 'don't work for shit (gar-gar-gar)'.

Folks who use it @hope appear satisfied...

I have one, too and it works OK. But I'm not sure how much pressure I am supposed to use whiled moving it around. Do you press down on the cloth or simply work it with very light pressure?

Thanks,

Dave

More likely they're the ones trying to clean felted tables with the wrong tool. How many pool halls cover in Simonis only?

Honestly, it has been a long time since I have seen anything other than Simonis cloth in a table at a pool room around me...

My cranky guy is old, prob has no cell phone too.

I guess he cleans tables w/ brush and wet rag, perhaps vacuum tew.

I only use the X-1 nowadays. It works quite well, though is obviously pricey. My sister gave me one as a gift though, so the price did not sting me. It is certainly better than Quick Clean, IMO. I've got some of that still sitting around. I had to leave my basement after I used it. Quite noxious if you ask me.

I use a wet micro fiber cloth on my Pro Am's Simonis 860 after every couple of days of play. It works quite well.

No pressure at all. Hold it so that all you are doing is dragging it around.
It won't work as well with pressure.
