Do you think Pool the sport Amateur, and Professional would benefit if BCA, BCAPL, APA, ACS, and the other Pool Organizing, and scantioning groups went away.

Then all of organized Pool both Professional, and Amature was under just one scantioning body, one set of rules & standards, and maybe last if this one group took over. All scantioning events payout would be guaranteed.

The One Group idea is not new, but there is more strength it one big group. Verses 7 or 9.

Ideas💡.

I would say no.

From this guys perspective, amateur pool is pretty successful so I don’t see any benefit to dismantling anything they are doing there. But I’m do see benefit in more unity at the professional level but that doesn’t mean anyone should necessarily go away.

Not a simple question, and not a poll. But the answer is no. Doesn't work for our government and won't work for pool.

Well that's kind of how it is in Europe now with the EPBF as the governing body above all national associations. The national associations do their own thing in their respective countries, but there's just one set of rules (WPA) enforced everywhere.

It's difficult to translate that system to America because it's such a huge country and it would probably need an immense amount of people in that one organisation to handle pool all over America. Maybe installing an association in every county with a national governing body above them would be viable.

Only you could turn a 'simple poll question' into a semi-coherent lump of goo. Congrats.

You should definitely have one set of rules. Every major sport does. And every major sport has an organizing body and a players association. Not having all three of these things will just help create the ceiling for pro pool.

Take boxing for example. Boxing had many organizations that didn't work well with each other. Then the UFC comes along and is really the one main organization in MMA. Although the two sports are not exactly the same, I believe having the UFC as the one main organization is big reason MMA is thriving vs boxing.

I agree. I believe pool has the problems it does because it is a game that people want so desperately to be considered a sport.

amateur pool in america is fine as it is. only thing i would complain about amateur pool is that everyone seems to think that the only two that exist are the APA and the BCAPL. I have no problems with either of those leagues but NAPA, ACS and TAP put on good products aswell.

Pro pool is fine. From reading this forum in the last few months, I think the hardcore pool fan just wants bigger lights on the product and is why everyone is loving everything matchroom is doing.

The short answer to your question is "no".

Eliminating all the various organizations isn't going to grow the sport. Each of those organizations does something that attracts people to participate, something that might not translate to other organizations way of doing things.

Having a choice is almost always a beneficial thing.

Could the rules be more standardized, and would that be a good thing? Yes.

Completely go away: No
Get condensed down to one set of rules:: Yes !

But which set of rules ??
And who gets to choose ??

I would say no.

Pool is like a lot of groups, many members of community, few workers.

VFW, American Legion, Elk Lodge called DMO’s (drinking members only).

Good friend ran program at local Elk Lodge to help veterans in need, guy did great job. Sadly died year & half ago.

Since then 5 have stepped up to fill position, all quit. Four did nothing, one actually did for about 60 days, and got frustrated with DMO, resigned, and quit Elks.

Pool should be under one governing body with a standard set of rules.
The PGA has done pretty good and built golf into a monster game/sport.

Because of the way the poll was written everybody who wants to vote would have no choice but to choose the first choice. Yes, of course on net only having one organization is a good or bad idea.

There is no excuse for you being so lazy that you absolutely refuse to proof read any of your posts before hitting "post reply" the way that you do, especially when considering the fact that 100% of your posts are either completely nonsensical or at best difficult and require much effort read and interpret. Aside from extreme laziness it also shows a level of complete and total disregard for others that is not often seen outside of serial killers and child molesters.

CocoboloCowboy, please proof read your posts every single time and correct them so they at least make some sense and are somewhat readable before you hit "post reply". Thanks in advance.

what is 'scantioning' and why does God have to be involved in this poll? asking for a friend.

Except I don't think that's quite accurate. PGA, PGA Europe, the R&A, and USGA are all separate organizations. No one is above the rest, but they all work together on things like one set of rules for professionals. What golf has is independent organizations that work together, not one governing body.

I meant only in the U.S.one body to govern.
One body with standard rules.
