Sir Joseph Glove Alternative?

Anyone have any ideas on a better glove than the SJ glove? I am left handed and a lot of the gloves that are sold on the billiards sites are for right handers only, so any suggestions for a glove that would be for both?

Finger Slides. A search on here should yield several links.

Finger slides. No doubt. I hate gloves, but wouldn't be without my finger slides.

I third this -- FingerSlides are great!

You can order your pair (which are left-/right-handed "agnostic" -- you can install them on either hand), here:
http://cuezctc.com/

The proprietor and maker of FingerSlides, Nancy Cote, is great -- she can customize your pair to e.g. fully enclose the thumb or index finger (or both), etc.

To the OP -- give Nancy a call or email. You won't regret it!

sleeve the shaft

Anyone (besides me and Alex P0 ever done this?

Cut a finger off of a glove. Cut the end off the
glove finger to make a tube. Slide the tube on
the shaft (you can get female help with this
part if needed). Hold the sleeve and let the
shaft slide inside of it. When you let go the
sleeve stays on the shaft and your hands
are not covered.

Never done this in any kind of official
tourny, but I suspect it's not legal.

Anybody know for sure?

Finger slides once again. I am a fellow southpaw and I use em' when it's really humid. Much better than a glove, imo. I ordered two sets three years ago or so and have never opened the second set yet. Pretty well made stuff and a life saver in a pinch. I used them to beat my arch nemesis at the derby city two derbies ago. Gotta luv 'em...

should be legal but I don't know

I don't see any reason for that to be illegal. A few years back someone sold a sleeve to go over cue shafts. It looked kind of like the open weave sleeves electrical wiring is often in under the hood of a car. The sleeves were cheap, I think a few dollars apiece. I always meant to at least try one, never got around to it before they disappeared.

I did try a glove for a little while and the finger slides. Didn't like the glove although my main complaints were the sweat and the lack of contact between my finger tips and the table. Could have cut the finger tips off the gloves nosepicker style but I tried the fingerslides instead. I too like the finger slides that cover very little of your hand. Nancy will indeed custom fit them if you aren't 100% satisfied with the standard slides. They are made out of a thick material compared to a glove and seem to last forever. I keep a pair in my case all the time. They are made of a thicker material than gloves the last I knew and some glove users don't like this difference. I recommend them if you must use something. I try to wash my hands a lot and sometimes the faintest bit of powder. When that doesn't work it is nice to have the finger slides for back-up.

The predator gloves are really good quality. Also pro series last a long time. Sir Joseph used to be good but the last few years they've been terrible. The stitching seems to be comeing out as soon as you take them to of the bag.

Btw. I switched back to finger slides....mine funnily is wearing out so it's time to order a new one lol. But it's lasted a long time.

I second the Predator glove. It has grip patches in specific places and it is very nicely made.

but all I have seen from the predator gloves is for right hand players, is there some place I can get them for left hand players?

Sounds like from everyones suggestions that Fingerslides are the way to go. Thanks everyone

I can assure you that it is legal, at least in some places because I have seen Earl Strickland use a "sleeve", albeit a plastic one, on his break cues.

Also, the Nick Varner gloves are better than the SJ brand, imo (although the PoolDawg brand is my favorite but you can't use these if your left-handed because the logo might interfere with comfort).
