Sitcoms with Pool related episodes

Also not a sitcom, but there was an episode of Quantum Leap (Scott Bakula, Dean Stockwell) involving pool. The only reason I remember it is because Bakula's character shoots a classic corner-five kick to win the cash.

I was going to mention that episode.. that was one of my favorites....

What TV sitcoms do you think have had the best pool related episode? I can remember quite a few, but my favorite one was from an episode of Good Times where James (the father) had to resort to playing pool in order to make the rent payment on time. Another good one was on an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show. Any others?

Another pretty good one was on the Lucy Show.
Dick Shawn played a hustler who enters a ladies tournament in drag and he and Lucy end up in the finals. It was pretty funny.

Also Not a Sitcom, But...

I saw an episode of "The Rifleman" (with the fine actor Chuck Connors, who also was a fine athlete) where Mark Twain came to North Fork. In one scene there is a real mouthy character in the billiard room (a 3-cushion table) at the saloon who insults Twain. Twain offers him a wager. He says the man can set up any billiard shot he wants and Twain will make it (we are told by Mark McCain that billiards is Twain's hobby). I forget what the bet was, but I remember the shot. The man placed the red and the white in opposite corners on the short rail of the table. Twain steps up, places the cue ball near the white and strokes a nice 4 rail billiard right into the red.

I recall "The Honeymooners" episode where Art Carney and Gleason play pool. Gleason lines up a shot, misses badly, then mutters "table's off"...

The ones I remember go like this

Silver Spoons!!! the father Eddie, is down at a bar i believe, and its on April fools day, and is playing a guy for some money, and gets way up on the guy. And then comes the hustle, shortly after that, he ends up owe'n a few hundred.

Law & Order I've seen a couple where Jerry Orbach has had a couple scenes of shooting pool. I think the best was Jerry and his partner go into a bar or pool hall looking for someone and the guy they are trying to get some info from is shooting 8ball and misses a shot and Jerry runs out the table. And of course the guy fess's up the info.

I think theres another where Jerry and his partner is playing and Jerry hooks himself on the 8ball, while playing 8ball and does a 4 rail kick to make it.

I seen the episode of Quantum Leap where Scott Bakula was the black pool player back in the 50's. very funny cuz he had no clue on how to play pool but the guy he was suppose to be was a big time pool hustler.

The Soprano's in season 1. They have a pool table in the office of the Bada Bing, and in one episode Christopher miscues badly and throws the cue down on the table. In a later episode, the feds raid the 'Bing, and the pool table top is lifted up and there are a bunch of machine guns hidden inside.

I saw the Dick Van Dyke episode recently as well Thanks Linda......

It was Step By Step..........not Eurkel

That was a decent episode. The half brother was going to make a fortune off of the geeky little brother and the "surfer dude" gave the Do-Re-Mi to the geek.

Other shows:

Martin: Martin came back early from his honeymoon and got hustled.
Malcolm & Eddie: Guest star pool instructor- Richard Pryor
Dateline: Talking about "Playing off the rail"

Movies:

The cue between the legs bit was in "The Great Outdoors"

"The Music Man" gave us "You Got Trouble" ..........with a capitol T that rhymes with P......and we all know what that stands for.

A few shots in Tombstone.

Robin and the Seven Hoods & Ocean's 11- The Rat Pack

That's it. I'm tapped!

Have a great holiday everyone!

There was an episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Francis played the commandant of the military academy (who replaced his hook with a bridge).

I use to watch 90210 in high school ,(please dont tell anyone), but Dillan(Luke Perry) use to hustle at pool all the time. He was rich anyway, but always played for a few hundred at the local bar and usually ended up in a fight. Then he got laid by every girl on the show. I always envied that guy.

LMAO..funny

Although there was never a "pool related" episode, Cheers used to show people playing on the table in the back of the bar from time to time.

I can go even older. THe show was "My Threes Sons". One of the sons got hustled and Uncle Charlie had to go win the money money back. He practiced on the dining room table with paper bags as pockets to get back in stroke. No rails!

BTW, the Fresh Prince episode was the same theme, but it was actually the uncle/father that saved the day. The butler was in charge of "Lucille" (the cue). A reference to BB King's guitar or something...

Spin City
Charlie Sheen plays Martin Sheen(plays his dad in the episode as well) for the money Martin Sheen conned from the mayor in a charity scam

It's rare that I don't read every post before I reply but I am feeling lazy today so forgive me if the 'Honeymooners' have been mentioned. There are many episodes with Gleason(Ralph) shooting pool with Carnie(Norton). In fact Gleason was a good shot in real life and really enjoyed the game.
One of my favorites though has to be when Ralph and Norton set up to play a game and Ralph sets up to break....
Norton: Wait a minute why do you get to break?
Ralph: Alright we'll flip for it...call it.
Norton: Why do you get to flip it?
Ralph: Alright flip it I call tails.
Norton: Well why do you get to call tails. Maybe I want tails?
Ralph: Just BREAK'em.

^ something like that anyway and then Norton proceeds to take about 5 minutes twitching aroungd like he does before Ralph finally snaps and shoves with a "COME ON!" LOL Those two were great.
