Has anyone here ever shipped a cue to Taiwan? What about bank wire transfers originating from Taiwan?

I have a buyer, I think, but want to make sure that all is on the up and up. The absolute last thing I need right now is some 'tomfoolery' concerning this cue.

It is only because of some of the incidences here as of late that I am asking...so any advice would be most certainly appreciated.

Thanks!
Lisa
Don't take any credit card or wire transfers.
Take Western Union or Paypal.
Don't take any offers from Nigeria or Indonesia. :D
If the buyer is sincere, make him post here.
Pool is a very small community there so Cyrus or PoolFanatic people should be familiar with the buyer.

If they are offering way more than anyone else, it probably isnt legit and if they aren't, it just aint worth it.

Disclaimer- I know next to nothing on the subject.

See...I know someone would be able to offer advice! I think I would feel the most comfortable with Western Union these days. The buyer wants to buy the cue only...which is fine.

I do not know if he is a member here.

Joey...sending you a PM.

Hi Lisa sorry you have to sell your Skip.I know how you couldn't wait to get it.I hope the Taiwan deal comes through.I neve even had an offer on my Skip. When the market turns around I know it will sell. This is a really good time to buy cues with the prices being deflated.
Good luck with your sale.

I agree Bruce. Wire transfer of funds is best and safest by far. You absolutely do not ship the cue until the funds are in your account and available to you. There is usually a $10 fee to receive the transfer. On the other hand PayPal or Western Union fees on a 2K purchase can be substantial and the purchaser could recind a transaction through their credit card company when cue is en route (PayPal). I would also only ship postal EMS insured for full value UNLESS the buyer wanted to assume the risk of a lesser amount for customs.

Pleasse Please explain what is wrong with a Wire Transfer???????????

I am not saying there is anything wrong with a wire transfer...just have very little dealings with the process. I did explain to the buyer that I could not possibly ship the cue until the funds cleared my bank account. He seemed to be okay with that.

My concern is that I was told that it could take up to 30 days for a bank wire transfer to clear, and then, it was reversible for up to 6 mos. I was told that a Western union wire was immediate funds, with no worries of a fraudulent charge-back.

I am not impugning anyone's character here, just making sure I do everything right so that both parties are satisfied. I would like for this individual to get a really nice cue that he would like to have, and for me to get the monies that I need.

If someone who has had experience with wire transfers could explain the advantages over Western Union, I am really all ears!!:D Just trying to be smart and do all the research.

Poolchady is also a member in Taiwan that I trust completely, if he's willing to verify this guy for you.

Thanks, Roger...you're a peach! Apparently this guy had an 8 point Skip once before. I am feeling more comfortable with this possible transaction...just trying to be careful, what with some of the difficulties some have had as of late.

Check with your bank Lisa. Once funds are in your account via wire transfer it is not coming back out, no way! Process usually takes 1-2 days unless your customer is on the moon.

Amen about the Wire Transfer & Insurance:)

Congrats for sale Lisa.

Did you include a 'buy-back' option with that buyer? I'm sure you will love to get it back when your coffer gets filled up again. :)

Looks like the cue is SOLD...pending payment!:D

Lisa

Sometimes people setup an account to be used just for wire transfers
or e-transfers, and referred to as ''slosh" accounts, then after the money
is received, they transfer it into an another account for safe keeping.

This way, it is more secure, and noone 'knows' the account number of
the final account, only the slosh accounts number (and Trans Routing ABA - your bank id routing number). That way if you have doubts about someone you are doing business with, it won't matter because the funds will be in the safe keeping account only.

Well, technically, it is not sold until the funding is received. I am awaiting confirmation from the buyer...but he seemed very, very sincere about the sale. He very much wants the cue, as he had/has an 8 point Skip.

I know that my already high stress level will reduce once I can get these monies in the bank...maybe I will actually be able to 'breathe' again...Lol.

I guess only time will tell.

Thanks Guy! Chady knows him and has nothing but nice things to say about him, and that he is very honorable. He also purchased a new SW from a member here in September. He is quite likeable, I must say. The fact that he is a Skip lover wanting another Skip does make me feel good about where it is going...makes it a little easier.:D

I am glad you found a home for your cue. I hope you got what you were asking for. It was a fair price for a nice cue.
