Sky Woodward in Manila

Crowds there are great psych training for the Mosconi cup arena. Are most of the tables there that slow?

Manila temperature has been around 90-95F for the past 2 weeks, and will even get hotter this april/may. it is really humid and they are playing in a non-airconditioned place. (not to mention the huge crowd that adds to the humidity). generally yes, most tables are slow probably because of humidity. also, most table cloth are not replaced on a regular basis - unless they're torn or really really thin. LOL

Hope he has a great time. This is a must trip for any serious player. I loved it there.

Matches Off - Sky is ill

Just saw on facebook that Sky vs Bata and Sky vs Django have been cancelled. It seems Sky caught a bug and expect to be in bed for the next few days.

That completely sucks. I hope he feels better. It must be heartbreaking for him to go all that way and not be able to play two legend on their home turf!

This is really sad news. I hope Skyler feels better soon. Maybe the matches can be rescheduled (before Skyler has to go back to the US). After all I heard about Anton Raga in the past, that was the match I was really interested in seeing, or at least reading news about.

According to Facebook, that match was played. Skyler lost something like 21-13 (but Sky was apparently under the weather already).

I should have told him, DON'T DRINK THE WATER!

Was the match against Anton Raga filmed?

I would also like to see Sky match up with Johann Chua, my new favourite pinoy player. Now that would be a good one.

Sky seems to have every component to be the next superstar US player.

His attitude is great, even in defeat. His maturity at the table is great, and now he is running around with Dennis and taking his lumps in Manila. This kid has all the makings to compete with SVB in a couple years...

I haven't heard anything negative about Sky. I am a fan and hope to see him reach the very top.

It looks like it was a cage match...guy must play good to beat Sky.

If I remember correctly, Romeo "Totong Tugatog" Silvano was the other half of the doubles team that won in the Pacquiao doubles tournament besting teams from Taiwan (including the Ko brothers) so yes, if he is the same guy then he can really play good.

There are probably fifty guys who can play Skyler even and possibly beat him. And that's a conservative estimate. A year in the Philippines and Skyler would come back a world class player. Worked out pretty good for Darren and John Morra. No better training ground anywhere!

I highly doubt 50
