So, according to AZB real time scoring, Skyler just bested Feijen 11 - 6. BUT, here in AZB land, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth lamenting most of the USA's 2017 Mosconi Cup's players losing in the first round. Yet here Skyler and Justin remain at this advanced stage in the tourney. Hmmm, they must be pretty good, no?

Justin is not on the Mosconi Cup team this year. I read it as the point you are trying to make, was that Sky and Justin were part of the team. Sorry, if i read this wrong.

On another note, I think these 2 fellas are pretty good players, in my opinion.

Dang, no Justin on the team? LOL, I guess i've been busy with other things and just assumed that he was on. Not paying much attention to pool these days I'm afraid. A well, F- it, go Skyler! He IS on the team, right???

Darn right he is. Not picking Justin this year hurts bad. I nearly boycotted the tourney but bought tickets after all. This show is a great time and a good chance to see many of the folks who are a big part of the game. I would have a hard time missing this event.
Get there sometime;)

Skyler just beat Biado. Must have been a great comeback - I saw that he was down significantly, then Skyler’s score just kept creeping up and up, and ended 11-7.

You’re not paying much attention when it doesn’t help the point you were trying to make with this thread, right?

Very nice to hear this news. Bergman vs Woodward in the finals.

U.S.A not getting MC points for their biggest tournament of the year is total BS. Johnnyt

Sorry sir, but the point I was trying to make is not worth inventing conspiracy theories in order to try to explain. I am a casual pool fan, so please forgive me if I really care enough to be only partly correct every third Thursday.

In all seriousness, I can't imagine why Justin Bergman is not on this team. Pretty sure that the captain could make a pick or two, but it has already been shown that my ability to be incorrect is stratospheric. Imo, justin is one of the USA's very best, so I can't see why he was excluded.

The popular guess is that Johan wants people who are willing to put in work, and he wants people that want the Mosconi cup bad and have that burning desire. Justin made essentially no effort to even attempt to get the points to qualify to make the team, and this is seen as a demonstration of not having either of those things.

I think it was also intended to send a message to everyone for the future, the message being that you better be willing to put in some work and effort and be acting like you want it and that it means something to you and that you aren't going to get a free pass without those things regardless or who you are or how good you are.

Money wise Justin made a poor business decision because he could have gone to a whole lot more tournaments and still come out ahead after he got the minimum $10,000 show up money just for making the team. Justin isn't even the type of player that is going to lose money on average by playing more events, especially all the stateside events, but even if playing some more events did end up putting him a little in the negative that $10,000-20,000 Mosconi payday would more than cover it and then some.

Bloviating once a gun I see. You ,a be correct long term but as far as here and now, which is really any of us could see or know - JB Should be on the team. We should ultimately support " our " coach, BUT . ....

For the record, decisions like this is made all the time in business. Is the top " earner " truly the best guy ? So,etudes yes , but often no! Depends on circu, stance which seems to have been eliminated from our culture and mindset ! !!
