slumps

This might help. Stop practising the shots you keep missing! Take easy shots, don't play shape and let out the stroke. Once you do this, practice shape and forget about potting. Do easy shape then start moving the CB around. Don't focus on one part of the game.

Slumps can be difficult, especially when you begin questioning the grip, stance, aim, bridge... Next time you get in to the grove, video it and explain what you are doing. Refer back to this for your next slump.

I practice thru it but just simple things, i just focus on trying to hit dead center. I wont sit there and pratice draw shots or long hard cut shots i just keep it simple.

ok, this is REALLY scary advice, but it worked in baseball (hitting slumps). We called 'em SLUMPBUSTERS. You go out and a find the absolute nastiest woman you can (one you'd never hook up with in a million years), and hit it like she was a perfect 10. Everytime you come to the plate after that, just think about her, and the fact that you never wanna be there again!!! You WILL get a hit. BTW, never tried it for pool, but it's gotta work the same :p BTW, had one hitting slump in college (o-fer for two straight games - double header)....then NEVER again. lol

SICK, I know, but it's a well known thing in baseball....:embarrassed2:

what's a slump?

take two weeks off......then quit. LOL! JK, it's a funny golf quote

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A SLUMP! DON'T FALL INTO THAT TYPE OF MIND SET. that BS is created by sports journalists to get a rise out of atheletes. ie. Tiger Woods when he was making some adjustments in his swing, every said that he was in a slump. he didn't think so.

Many people base "slumps" in comparison to not being able to play to the best of their ability. NOBODY PLAYS TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY ALL THE TIME! Every ones game peaks and falls, what you should be focusing on is what can give you more CONSISTANCY if your ups and downs are very differing.

more slumpage

oh, one more thing.....

with every trip to the table, brings an OPPORTUNITY to turn it around.

whattaya mean, no such thing? Next you're gonna tell me that wearing the same hat a sweatbands (without washing them) all season long made no difference either. IT DID, darn it. :p

Getting back to the center of the cue ball helps me.

I have a tendency to get lazy with where i'm hitting the cue ball after while.

Something about focusing on just that one thing helps quiet the rest of my mind, thus allowing me to play the game properly.

Two things.
Get the right mental attitude. Get rid of negative thoughts like "slump" and "miss", and replace them with positive thoughts like "roll" and "dead stroke".

Focus on fundamentals.

Don't try to "make things happen"...LET things happen.
