I'm curious about this tournament; all I know is it fills fast, has a waiting list, and is played on 7' tables with a race to 9.
Would like some info as to what the area is like and how the tournament usually moves along, idea as to caliber of talent who show, etc. also any good places to eat?
Thanks

Shannon Daulton, Larry Nevel, and Stevie Moore are regular attendees, to fill you in on the talent level.

Include these names of past winners- Brian White, Shane McMinn, Keith McCready, Mike Gulyassy, Scott Rabon, Mike Painter, Jeff Abernathy, Tony Watson, and more. Yeah there is some talent there.

Waynesville is about 30 minutes to Asheville. Great restaurants in Asheville with an excellent live music scene.

This is the heart of the Smoky Mountains. It's very beautiful.

The Maggie Valley, just north will have decent eating since it is a touristy place.

So, if you can't find what you need in town, the surrounding areas should have what you're looking for.

I moved to Asheville area last June and these are some of the reasons I moved here. I will be at the shootout but not in the tourny.

I use to go to this tournament all the time. I would make a week of it. Starting off with a day at Biltmore Estates which is a must see if you are in that area. I would also go to Maggie Valley and ride the trolly up the mountain to the old west thing. (Its now closed) I would find my way to Cherokee to the Casino. When I left the tournament I would go over to Glatenburg and then Pigeon Forge. It would be a great week of site seeing along with playing in one of the greatest tournaments around. Lots of great people running it and for a great cause. The average player has no chance to win this tournament and just go to have a good time. I am really thinking about heading down this week end just to see some of the people.

It is a fun tourney. I have played in the past and enjoyed it very much. The talent level is high caliber and moves along at a nice pace. There used to be tables on the outside of the arena where you could find some action or practice. I would love to be there but work is getting in the way.

Great cause, great people, great players, great event, etc.

This is the only time I play on bar tables the whole year.
That's OK, it's a lot of fun and it's for a good cause.

It's been held at the fairgrounds since I've attended the last
7 or 8 years. The Armory will be a new experience for me,
but I know that it won't disappoint. It used to be held at this
venue and is now making a return.

There's sure to be many packages put together, because it's
winner break bar table pool with good to great players.

Hope you can make it.

Chevybob got it right. Waynesville has a great downtown just a couple of blocks from the Armory with shops and restaurants and maggie valley is about 10-15 minutes down the road with lots more. Beautiful time of year to be in the mountains.

Does anyone know if it's 100% full? I'd be interested in rolling down there this weekend.
