Smorg... AKA Doug

Thank you all

Pleas forgive me If I have posted in the wrong area. I am sure this will get where I need it to.

On behalf of Doug, thank you all for the support you offered during the tough times. Thank you for the wonderfully special jacket and the notes of encouragement to keep on trucking. Thank you for the ET surprise.
I want to thank everyone who sent condolences and contributions to the American Heart Assn fund set up for Doug in lieu of flowers. I am deeply touched by all of you. Thank you for the gifts many of you have sent. The support you have offered to me, the kind words and open arms have helped me get through this awful time in my life. I miss him so very much. What happens alot is someone will say or do something and I can't wait to tell Doug and then realize there is no Doug to tell it to. That hurts, no one would care more about what I say then he. Everything I did meant something to him.
Please know I am grateful to all of you. JoeyA has been so wonderful to me, before this happened, then during and now. It was many years after that I got to meet JoeyA and have come to love him as Doug did. JoeyA you may share Dougs last days with his AZB family. I know you will keep his vanity and pride in tact.
I will keep in touch.

Sorry to see you go Doug.

Well,

Although I have been gone for some time, I am angry with myself that I did not notice this sticky.

I have not been a member of this forum for very long, but I can say with absolute sincerity that I am going to miss not reading Doug's posts. He made me laugh often with his sense of humor, not only with his posts but when we talked at the poker table the times that he played.

My prayers go out to his wife.

RIP SMORGIE, you will be missed.

Barb,
It is great to hear from you on the forum. Thanks for keeping in touch. The AZBilliards forum was Doug's home. It is our home and I know I can speak for most of the forum on this matter: We hope it will become your home.

For those of you that don't know Barbara; she is a very interesting and fun woman who LOVES SPORTS, enjoys gambling or sweating gambling, playing pool or sweating pool. To be a partner in life with Smorgass Bored, you had better like at least some of those things but I think it came naturally for Barbara.

Barbara is in the process of rebuilding her life and I hope that our family will invite her to join us if she feels the need or desire to.

Personally, I kind of like the SmorgassBored ID still hanging around but maybe we could add "(His better half)" LOL. That would probably make him puff up with faked indignation and then have him turn around and make us all laugh about it...... dammit, I'm missing that guy, imo. There you have it. VIOLA!

Maybe Barbara will tell us a little about herself in the future weeks but she may need a little encouragment.

the safest bet on the board

Joey,

I think that it is the safest bet on the board that everyone here would be very happy if Barbara chooses to join our community. To say the welcome mat is out is a vast understatement!

Barbara, if you would like to have your own account you may go to the forum and just login as a new user and setup. If you have any problems just use Doug's account and PM Mike at azhousepro or myself and we will help you.

You are welcome to keep using Doug's profile to log on if you prefer. I'm sure all the AZB family would love to know more about you when you are ready.
Take care

Mrs Smorgass Bored (might be too long...imo)

or

Barbarachnid (LOL)

Look forward to hearing your Smorg stories!! I bet you have some good ones!

"Smorgass Bored vs Old Has Been"

IMHO, the two greatest posters ever are now matching up in heaven. Don't you know Doug and Tom are betting it up now. What a match.......

Barbara, my deepest sympathies to you and your family and may God be with you at this trying time.......

Or... Mrs Viola! Maybe we could dig up a pic of a magician, photoshop it, showing the magician pulling a pic of Doug out of a hat, or pulling his infamous "rep helmet cat" out of a hat.

Great to see you post here Barbara. Please do so as often as you'd care to. I would like to encourage you to share some more stories of the big guy!

I hope you're doing well.

Take good care and cya round,

Matt

Barbara, I'm glad that you posted. Would love to hear more of yourself and what you like to do. Thanks for stopping by.

Smorg,

I have been sort of down and out lately (overworked) -- I thought of you in the middle of a very hectic situation today, smiled, put things in perspective, started thinking more positive, am back on track and came and make another post here to say -- Thanks Smorg!

I woke up this morning with my wife saying, "Doug has passed away". I said, Doug Young? She said no Smorgass Bored. I couldn't move. She was reading a text message from a friend. That was over an hour ago!

As I choked back tears long enough to write this, I thought about how Doug is no longer suffering. I thought about the countless times that a guy, from across the country that I never met in person, made me LOL!

I will always cherish the numerous PM's and posts from Smorg. He was truly a giant of a man. I will miss him dearly!

My deepest condolences to Barbara and all of Doug's family and friends.

This was a sad day for me in 2009. Reminder of how much we have to be thankful for!

Thinking of you Smorgie!

I can't believe it has been 2 years!! and a few weeks. I think, as March is about over, that it will always be Smorgass Bored month for me and many others here on the Pool Forum!

Thinking of you buddy!
