Snooker World No. 1 John Higgins in betting scandal

Read the article on the front page of AZB. Very, very bad for all of cuesports. No wonder we cannot get sponsors. And for those who say that betting on the games would make the sport popular, well, not with crap like this going on.

Gentleman's sport my a**. I wonder if this will end betting on Snooker in the UK. Probably not but could be. We shall see.

A sad day for pool and snooker fans all over the world.

It doesn't even matter if true or not, the damage is already done

This guy (Higgins) is gone from the Snooker world - FOREVER! So is his manager. What a couple of chumps! It always amazes how easily some people will sell out. It's all about GREED! And these are both wealthy men. For some reason that still escapes me, the wealthiest people are often the greediest.

Look at all the big Wall Street scandals here the last few years. Multi-multi millionaires scheming to enrich themselves even more, at the expense of others. Money is truly the root of all evil! Proven once again here.

Looks like Higgins suffers from the same defect as a few people I have known in my life, that is that he is positive he is so much smarter than everyone else the rules do not apply to him. Dumb ass.

It looks like this was a tabloid who set up the whole sting and it looks fairly elaborate. I normally dont care for this type of gotcha journalism but in this case it serves its purpose. Hopefully the next guy who gets a bright idea to put a move on the fans and the game will get the same treatment.

As for the "In fear for our lives" defense by the agent and Higgins, after watching the video if those two were in fear for their lives they should have no worries about future careers because they will both have multiple Oscars. I wonder how smart they feel today?

Higgins seems to be a classy guy and high maintenance than our US congressman. Our Congressman will do the dirty work for you for as low as 10,000 $.

Wow, I would thing that the No 1 player in the world would have plenty of bank and not worry about the money. Call it greed, I guess. Sad day for the sport.

Sad day for snooker when the world #1 does that. I guess Ronnie will move up a spot to #1 again. Hope he invested his money cause he won't get anymore from playing snooker, life ban coming for him.

It seems after watching the video, the only problem Higgins seen with the whole things is how to launder the money...

Only thing he had going for him is, he had to think about a way to launder the money and wasn't sure if it would work. If he came up with something ASAP, then you would know he has done it before.

True enough,,, I guess all he'll have to worry about now, is how to hang on to what money he has now. How's he going to pay for that place in spain...

John Higgins: 'My conscience is 100% clear' after bribery allegations

This defense of "I was scared" has a real big hole for me. So he says he was scared of these guys so he agreed to throw four frames and went on in some detail about it. But he wasn't scared enough of them to be worried what they would do if he double crossed them and didnt do what he agreed to.

Seems to me it makes more sense to tell them it was not worth risk or almost impossible to do without being found out. The guy on the video even says he doesnt know anything about how the game works. If you are going to tell them something to get out of the country I would do my best to tell them something that wouldnt have them looking for me later.

But IMO its all BS anyway. He was already thinking of how to hide and spend the money.

I think this guy better start playing 10 ball. i wonder if we will ever see him in the states.

Jay, the Scripture you referenced, whether you know it or not, actually says, "For the love of money is the root of all evil...", the implication, of course, is that money, in and of itself, can be used for good or bad, but the "love of money" breeds corruption, strife, etc.

He should be barred from pool too, if you ask me. If they did that to Shoeless Joe, the should do it to John goddamn Higgins.
