Hey good news guys... Snookers is now under new ownership! Pool promoters at heart and certainly new attitude towards the clients. I've been in Tallahassee for 6yrs, Snookers has been my go to place for great competition and better equipment (table care anyway).

Just to let everyone know, Snookers has been bought by a local family and is now run by the father and son.....and no....we do not charge for water ;)

Scott,

Thanks for posting this! This is great news. Dwight is a great guy who really busts his backside for pool in Tallahassee. Maybe he can do a lot more down there now!

Good room

I have been there a few times recently while visiting a friend... I like the room

Good itea to start it for them Scott. The old thread should not have been seen the light of current day but somebody just didn't know how az works. Newbees... whadayagunnadu? :groucho:

HEY.. NEW OWNERS... CHANGE THE FREAKIN NAME OF THE PLACE!!

I dunno - I never saw a prob with the previous owner based on the posts I've read. People complain when pool rooms can't make it and disappear, but if a room owner wants to charge for a water - they get vilified. People forget they're frequenting a "business," imo.

good luck !!

Good luck to the Southwestkid with his new business venture in the Southeast !:welcome::thumbup:

I'm glad Snookers has new ownership, I'll nake it a point to stop in the next time in Tallahassee. I'm the original $2 water victim. I happened on the AZ site again while looking for info on a Runde vintage schon.

I think it was always well setup for tournaments and like that the new owners are promoting more. While Pastime Tavern will always be my fondly remembered poolroom in Town, think paying $50 and hour to keep it open for 2+ hours with a fish on the line...

I also have fond memories of Snookers, walking in on a Sunday morning with an over night onepocket game still going on, or perhaps easing in and watching Gary (Bird) Asbell (2x national winner of College [ ACUI ] Pocket Billiards Championships, play the ghost, really a ghost him self now as an attorny in Tallahassee.

Then there was Howard Barrett, who played pool, hustled and travel around for some of the glory days or Billiards, still competitive in the weekly $10 entry tournament even though he wheeled an oxygen bottle around with him.

I look forward to paying for many hours of table time and sipping on a cup of water and tipping the wait's $2 (on the first on at least)

FYI, if you swing by there again, it's now called Zingales (after the new owners). Same layout, just better management by some real pool enthusiasts.

Also keep an ear open as they are working on bringing in some bigger tourneys there.

Are Mike and Jim running Snookers now?

I wonder if Jim still has that titanium break shaft.

Yes, and Yes.

If you ever run into Mike again, ask to see his new Arthur cue. He'll be glad to show off his new baby that's worth twice the price of my car!

Zingales Billiards and Sports Bar

Hey thanks guys, and yes, my dad still has his titauium break stick, you can see it every tuesday when he plays in the doubles tournament. The place is called Zingales Billiards and Sports bar. The place is looking great, new paint, new mirrors, new additude...same great tap water lol....and please come by and ask about the Arthur cue (its worth more than my car to james lol) along with the rest of my cue collection that is displayed in the room. I'm talking to Tommy Kennedy about doing one of his tournaments in late Aguest, and we are discussing adding a Diamond 4.25 inch pocket players table which would bring us to 23 9' tables. We redid the bathrooms and added more smoke eaters to make the place comfortable for the non-smokeys. So please stop in and ask for Michael....I'm always here

Sounds like a good reason to drive 2 hours north from Panama City. I will check it out soon.
