Is there anything I should do on it in terms of drills/skill building to take advantage of the rail's and cloth's new state?

Yeah, can you elaborate a bit for us? Just what kind of work do you do? Are you a physicist or something?

(second guess fireman)

We had two eight footers starting about 1985. HANDMADE by A.J. Gill billiards in OKC. Ralston Purina wanted tables that were tough, they got it. Not good looking but heavy and tight pockets. Down to one to accommodate a ping pong table when I retired in 2005. Many days I played more than an hour a day on break. The money and benefits were great, but think what the end product was!! It's in your backyard! The dog poop business is smelly and dirty.

Work on your Masse' and jump shots!;)

You're a lucky guy to have a pool table at work. I don't think there is anything different that you should work on just because it's new cloth. If you are in stroke I would work on my big and small position drills. That always helps me adjust to a new table.

I work in a clubhouse/rec center in a retirement community. We have 6 very well maintained Gold Crowns (ranging from I-III), a few very good players who come in, and lots of down time ;).

Massé and jump shots are extremely frowned upon here. We even have to break with a pad underneath the cue ball so that's out of the question haha.

Same thing at our rec center table since we got the new cloth (Simonis 860). Want to keep it looking nice.

The biggest change for everyone was how much faster the cloth was compared to the shag rug we'd been playing on. People adapted to it pretty quickly, although the first few days were pretty funny with the CB going all the way down-table instead of stopping halfway.

I kind of prepared everyone in advance by telling things they'd like about the new cloth: 1) you'll get a lot more action from your break, and 2) you won't have to hit the ball as hard.
