and it appears that he did.

my requirements were that I wanted a hustler case with *lots" of tooling, I like flowers, and, if possible, can he please put just a little dark red on the center of some of the flowers to add a little interesting contrast.

<<<BAM>>>

I love the result.

The man is a tooling monster.

what do you guys think?

was the little splash of color a good choice?

thanks for looking.

And thank you, Rusty! It couldn't have been easier to work with you.

best,
brian kc

That's a sweet sweet case from Rusty! I love the shape of the case and the tooling is beautiful! Makes my waiting for his case worthwhile when I see what he's done for you! Congrats!!

The hideous Cyclop TV balls you put in to show off ruin the pictures for me );

I agree with the red centers, it definitely pops! Nice choice for sure.

thanks, glad you liked the red accents.

and regarding your first comment:

I got a set of Cyclop balls to try out to see for myself how they play. I'm curious like that and prefer to not rely on what others think about a product when I can check it out first-hand. Those balls are what I'm currently using.

In the vast majority of my cue and case pics, I typically lay the item on my table next to a 9b rack. Up until I got these to try, it was my centennial balls pictured.

If I was attempting to "show off", probably I'd have laid the case next to a baretta or benelli.

not $150 made in china set of pool balls. ;)

I do feel bad, though, that they 'ruined the case pictures for you'?

Woow wooow wooow...now that's a touchy subject...Chinese balls are equally adequate mind you...

I'm thrilled you like it Brian, I was a pleasure to build it for you! And thanks guys for the nice comments, I appreciate them.

you know what, Jive. I will agree with you on this and say that these cyclop balls do play very well. Colors are a little weird but I know they have recently made available new sets in traditional colors. And, as the story goes, these are made to the same specs and standards using the same formulas (and even the actual equipment, I believe) from the Hyatt Billiard Ball Co., Albany, NY. In fact, they apparently flew over an elderly fellow who was a longtime Hyatt employee and expert to assist in getting the mfg up and running, properly.

Unfortunately, I have been conditioned through bad experiences to expect disappointments with items that are made in China. However, I know there certainly are exceptions and, hopefully, those numbers will be getting even bigger. :)

As for case tooling in China, I had a look at that Yang case you received for your friend in New York and while dragons and devils and monsters aren't my cup of tea, that casemaker is obviously mega-talented and a true artist. And in addition to the aesthetic appeal, if JB said it was constructed the right way, which he did, then his cases are a winner on all levels.

I didn't want to derail my own thread but I def wanted to clear this up.

Thanks.

We'll have to do it again, Rusty. :)

You definitely made my day . . . week . . . month . . .

Thanks!

I'm sorry that my sarcasm came through so poorly. While I have publicly hated the TV colors of the Cyclop set since I first saw them, I have no problem with the set in general.

I also did not mean to be so over-the-top or bombastic in my stating that they 'ruined the pictures' for me. The case is still a gem-and-a-half without a doubt. I'll leave my original comment up as a reminder not to be so caustic over the internet. :sorry:
