Jay here!

I got knocked out about 400th, out of the money. The funny thing is I've played three tourneys in three days and been knocked out of all of them with pocket Kings. Earlier today I played the $1,000 Buy In No Limit tourney with rebuys. I DO NOT rebuy! If I don't win with my first 2,000 in chips I'm out.

I raised in early position with K,K to 800 (blinds are 100 & 200). Two guys call me. The flop comes 2,3,T with two hearts. I bet my last 1,200 and the guy on the button calls. He has 4,5 of hearts, a very good draw. He hits the Ad (a straight) on the river and I'm out. If I win this hand I have over 5,000 in chips, but c'est la vie.

I go over to the Venetian and play in their $300 Buy In event and go fairly deep. There are less than 100 players left, and the final three tables get paid (27 players). First prize is 30 Grand, not bad for $300. I'm a little short on chips and pick up K's again. An early position player raises to 1,800 and I push all in again for about 6,000. He thinks for a while and calls me. He shows A,9 off suit??? Naturally the flop comes A,A,5. Nice huh. I'm gone once more.

Poker can be cruel, but I'll take K's every time. I told Eric that one day they will win me some big money. :)

I'm not sure why the computer I'm on keeps switching me back to Fatboy's account. It seems I have to log in twice from here to make it stick.

Hi Jay,

Fong Pang Chao here. I'm at Terry's teaching him how to rack!!!:D He banks good. Every time he hits one 100 mph, he mumbles something about how he can't wait to meet you someday. He says you have NO RESPECT for east coast tournament champions! But I settled him down....I told him that "I'm" from the far east, and I can beat Jay's #1 player of all time, Jose Parica. In fact, I, Fong Pang Chao, think I will have....how do you Americans say it....oh yea,...."I'll have you by the nuts if I, Fong Pang Chao, ever play you, Jay Helfert Fatboy!" What? Leave out "you and by?"
OK, Terry, I'll try that again...."Jay Helfert Fatboy, I, Fong Pang Chao will have the NUTS if we ever play, Jay Helfert Fatboy!"

Terry says it's my shot, so I have to log off of Terry's AZB account. We're about 3/16ths thru our set of 1,000 ahead 9 ball. We're betting it up big too! If I win, Terry has to buy me a "Big Mac Happy meal with a large vanilla shake." But if Terry wins, I owe him a big bag of Hershey Nuggets. Not those daintly little kisses, I'm talking the big chunks with 50 calories in each nugget!

Good luck next year, Jay Helfert Fatboy. And don't forget to try to get Leonardo Andams e-mail address for Terry the next time you are in the Philippines. Oh yea, pretty please. For him (Terry) not me (Fong Pang Chao). I have Leons email & cell #, but I'm not giving it to Terry unless he lets me borrow his 3 Stooges collection!

Holy......Bi-polar today Terry?LOL,Just kidding.Hey Jay are you done with the W.S.O.P. this year or are you heading across again?

nice one and welcome to azb, fong pang chao! hope to hear more from you soon!

Jay just want to be me,

he has got knocked out 3 time with KK, he has beat me 3 sets of 8ball in a row, HMMM???? wonder whaqts gonna happen next????

Jay,sorry to keep this going but inquiring minds want to know.Just hoping you would give us some stories,like............Do the big names in poker enter these smaller entries?Did you sit with any big names? Is the attendance down at all from previous years?I read that some of these smaller tournies go until 5 a.m.,probably due to time restraints,is that true?
Any other AZBers there with ya?
We just started a poker league at home here and want to send a few people to next years w.s.o.p. so if you have any stories it would be appreciated.
thx

Many, if not most, of the big names play in these "smaller" events. Why not, the prize pools are in the millions and it's their job. Take a look at the results of these events and you will see "big names" who cashed in every one.

I have played with most of these guys somewhere along the line. Daniel, Phil H., Chris "Jesus", Johnny Chan, Greg Raymer, Jamie Gold, John Phan, David Pham, Amer Vahedi, Tony Ma and too many others to list. I just knocked Scott Clements out in the first tourney I played in this week. He is one of the rising young stars in poker. There are also many players you never heard of that play great too. They are here from all over the globe.

Attendance seems on a par with last year, although the first $1,500 NL tourney was way up with 3,929 players. That one went until 5:45 AM on the second day (still 18 players left). They were trying to get down to the final table for day three. I expect the main event to be up this year from last year as well.

Hope this helps. By all means send some players. It's a blast!

Jay/Fatboy.....what I know about WSOP could be written on the back of a very small postage stamp in capital letters, so not able to discuss any details of the following WSOP participation info with any worthwhile degree of savvy from my side.

That being understood, just thought you might be interested to know that there seems to be a former ex 9 ball pro from Uk called James Akenhead who is apparently doing quite well in it. I don't know the guy myself but some of my friends do. Given the mutual pool background you might want to say hello if your paths cross.

Here's a link to a thread about it in the uk8ball.com website.

I've always liked Daniel and the way he plays. Is he as cool in person as he is on t.v.? He is probably the only one I like and will watch anymore. There is just too much poker on t.v. for me but I've always loved to play.

Jay maybe you can give us some poker lessons too while you're running pool tourneys:D

That's also why we haven't seen Evgeny Stalev in a while. He also has turned to poker.
Hopefully, only for the time being.
