I apologize if this has been linked before, but I think it's worth another look anyhow. This is a great video of Johny Archer, Nick Varner and FastMike talking through rack after rack. You get a good look at how these great player look at a rack and think about how to tackle it! If I heard this right, Varner said he never uses inside follow on a break shot. I think they go through 9 racks and an Archer 120 run.

I forgot to put this one first , but they tie intogether!

That was a great post, like you said there was alot to learn there....

Really enjoyed watching johnny play too. Was he under the influence there?

I Noticed he did not once pick up a piece of lint off the table ! ! ! lol

It sounded like nick had a few drinks in him too !

Steve

Keep up the good work and good shooting !!

I like hearing the drawls going back and forth.

"ah don't lahk goin farward for the three"
"yeah you kin drawr it back n get the fawr n then just stop it right thar"

I'm exaggerating a little. I spent too much time up north, any southern accent sounds strong.

Great links!

Cool.

Another bit of straight pool for my library. I downloaded and am making it into a dvd.

Johnny Archer plays fast

For those of you who have suffered through his long runs will be very pleasantly surprised by how quickly he shoots. Varner chimes in with comments and suggestions sometimes, but I think Johnny is figuring out most of it by himself. It's interesting, especially when they are talking about how to come off the break shot and end patterns that may or may not be obvious and trouble balls that need to be removed.

FWIW, this is the type of instruction you will receive from Johnny and Nick during their pool school. It is priceless knowledge from two guys that have BOTH won a handful of world championships.

This video shows you just how well they both teach and how well they both communicate their knowledge. I wish we had more pros out there teaching like this.

Nick and Johnny should be commended for all that they are doing for the game. I know that over the past 2 years, Johnny has sacrificed time away from his family to get on the road with Earl, Nick, and T-wheels to meet his fans and to teach the game.

If you get an opportunity, try to attend their school. There is so much to learn - like Mikey said - "it was like trying to drink water from a fire hose."

About 2:36 into Archer's 120, 2nd rack is very interesting. They are talking about follow, draw or basically a stun shot when your cue ball is on the left or right hand side of the center of the break ball. I also noticed on break shots, Jonny seams more comfortable going to the side rail then bottom rail or could be just basic high low positioning on the break ball.
