SO, Whats your thoughts on the JB Case Video?

I like my JB case but it's a pain in the ass getting the shafts out. I'd like to sell it to get me a buffalo Instroke. I don't need anything fancy anymore.

Well I'll tell yah this John did a nice video I'll grant him that .

But I will still be placing my order this coming week with Jack .

Another thing I want to touch on is in the video were he's shaking the case and dropping it .

There's not a chance in hell that I would shake my case to the point where everything would rattle , Second when is there a time that I'm going to drop my case from 4 feet in the air , never .

If your careful with your stuff 99.9% never will get recked .

But Good Video again John .

I like Jacks cases.

When you check your cue inside a duffel bag when you fly, your cue WILL get shook around by the bagage handelers. And bouncing around in a air plane there can be alot of vibration and shaking. the baggage guys throw bags 4 feet or more, if you dont fly then you dont need as much protection.

I'm not a big fan of flying , I've been in a plane twice and hated it .

Thanks Rob

I thought the video was informative, would like to see another video with reviews on other cases too. He did show owners ways to improve the JJ cases and also his interior would be a nice upgrade if you have a JJ case.

I do not like the idea of having prized cues in a case where there is so much movement and the interior is not good enough, after watching the video you can see that the case is not enough protection for cues especially ones that go in these cases of value. So hopefully JJ upgrades the interior and adds padding to the top and bottom so the cues do not meet the wood at all.

I have a Justis "tube style" and am very happy with it. I love the look of Jack's cases. That being said, John's interior looks better. Not to add fuel to the fire, but I believe this is how Reese's Peanut Butter cups were made LOL!!

A beefed up interior on a Justis Prolite and I think Jack would rule the world!!!!!!!! Something to think about.

IMO... I feel that the price you pay for a Justis Case you should expect the ultimate in protection. Although the cases are nice looking they seem to be lacking in this area. After all what are they for?... I mean, I can carry my cues in a duffle bag. Think I will postpone my order for now.

Just watched the video...JB would he better off extolling the virtures of his cases...while not slamming the competition at all.

I'm sure JB's cases are good ones. I'm keeping my Justis pro-lite.

JB did say he would sell interiors to fit inside a Justis case. QUOTE]

I would just like to reiterate what has been said before:

We give an unlimited lifetime warranty on our cases. Do not void this generous warranty by installing interiors made by others claiming to be superior to our ProLite interior.

what does your warranty cover? Is there somewhere I can read it?

Do you think I would give a lifetime warranty on a case that would not offer protection for the finest cues?

I thought the video was pretty good. I enjoyed seeing the anatomy of the cases and how they were put together. Both cases looked like they offer sufficient protection under normal use.

What does your warranty cover?, that is what he asked. Most people including your own customers are asking for you to offer a better interior and it is also stopping some from buying it out of fear of damage to their cues. It is a headache to have a cue refinished especially if it is a top maker since you would want to send it back to them so the value is not hurt which it might be anyway once its damaged.

~~It takes a bigger man to admit to be wrong~~

I don't understand why Jack chooses to dismiss JB suggestions to add protection. Why not give your customers this little peace of mind when all it takes is a small addition of rubber foam to the top and bottom in minor cost and labor.

Obviously Jack and John are doing fine selling their products regardless of what's going on on AZB, so I don't think that there is a real competition here between the two.... maybe just some hurting pride and ego....

Should really think of your customers first and their prized cues protection.

Just my two cents.....

skor <---- would love to own a JB case and a Justis case (with better protection)..... maybe one of these days :grin-square:

Jack, what does the warranty cover? Does it just cover the case or does it also cover any damage to the contents?

About 15 years ago there was a player who frequented a room that I hung out at. Every time he lost, which was often, he would slam is cue into the case so that the butt acted like a slide hammer. This case was a 2X4 It's George case. After many months of this abuse the bottom of the case finally gave out while he was walking through the parking lot. His Southwest butt and shafts hit the pavement. Needless to say he through a fit saying it was the cases fault, even though all knew that it wasn't. He contacted It's George and they had him send the cue to Southwest to have it fully refinished, had them make joint protectors for it and gave him a new case even though they and everyone else knew it wasn't their fault.

I know that in this case they went above and beyond what is expected from a case but my question is more concerning damage that may occur because of normal use such as dropping the case or being shaken for some reason? After all, the main duty of a case is to protect the contents from damage from an unexpected source. If the case isn't made for protection but for looks then a Cadillac with a cue on the back seat with a rubber band would suffice.

That number can be deceiving imo, as it is how many times the show was was logged onto. If one person were to log on 10 times it would count as 10 views.

Why would a person want to log on 10 different times..???.

I don't believe that 295 viewers would be deceptive....

It covers the case. If your $5,000 cue gets it's joint pin bent or the finish is dinged at the bottom of the case due to a luggage handler lobbing your case onto the conveyor belt or the case sliding down the metal section of the luggage area and hitting the base of the turning section (which is pretty much a given) you are SOL.

If you are going to lose finish on a cue it is going to be due to constant MOTION while the cue is in the case and the constant friction that creates more then a cue sitting snug in a case and hardly having any relative motion between the cue/shafts and interior fabric. The JB case allows very little realtive motion between the fabric and cues that would slowly wear down a finish due to friction, the Justis allows for constant relative motion between the cues and the fabric.

If you put a JB interior into a Justis case, and then later on the shoulder strap of your case breaks, then Jack will not fix the strap despite the fact that the interior of the case has NOTHING to do with the external damage the case has recieved. IMO that is a petty attack on JB at the expense of the Justis owners that simply want better protection for their cues but respected the exterior style and construction of a Justis case enough to up $500+ dollars for one of his cases. I could understand Justis voiding the warranty of the interior, there is no way he should be expected to fix a JB interior, but the whole case? His own craftmanship? This is simply blackmail against his own customers wanting added protection for their cues inside one of his cases caused by his dislike for JB.

Personally, my cues are alot more valuable then any case they are going to be going into and their protection is alot more important then the case itself. Keeping my case under warranty at the expense of the protection of my cues is not even an option. I will happily risk a broken strap if it saves by cue from a bent pin or stops the butt from banging and moving around in the case with a layer of nylon as the only barrier between the cue and shafts.

Hi Dick,

Thanks for your question.

Our warranty most certainly would cover the contents providing proof could be furnished that the damage was caused by the case.

Interested story about the It's George. Now I agree the bottom should not fall out of any case. We know about bottoms falling out on other cases and that is why our bottom is made using 3/4" wood, contact cemented and secured with 10 #16 x 1" solid brass escutcheon pins. To my knowledge, we have never had a bottom punched out.

Two individuals on this forum said cue damage was caused by a Justis case. Neither contacted me by phone or emailed when this allegedly happened or furnished any evidence, like photos of the damage or anything other than saying they put the cue in the case and just minutes later they took it out and it was damaged. This was a 2 year old case and after checking with the original owner, I was advised that no damage had ever occured to his cues. Not much can be done in situations like this nor should it be expected.
