SO, Whats your thoughts on the JB Case Video?

I will book all bets on the upcoming Hu vs Barton Pennsylvania Death Match at the following lines:

Hu to win: -450
Barton to win: +400

Barton to never actually ever say something to Hu's face: -1300

Hu to KTFO Barton if given the slightest chance and provocation: Off the board.

Barton to post over ten 2000 word replies as to why Eric is an asshole and include homemade video "proof" of that fact: -12,000

(There is a 300% service charge on all wagers for dealing with the level of crazy associated with this situation. Thank you and good luck to all on your wagers.)

Hu? Who?

S.

so the moral to the story is: do not drop your case, no matter who makes it, from 4ft or higher....shouldn't be that big of a problem.

I realize this is humor, and I know you are aware of this as well, but for the record Eric has been unfairly typecast as a brawler. He had to be provoked, stalked, slandered and baited for YEARS with the most foul of racial slurs and the most derogatory of insults before he exercised what I consider to be his right to self defense. Knowing what I know, I am amazed and grateful for the self-restraint Eric used in that one incident.

My experience is that Eric is a very nice guy who would only resort to physical violence, no matter what his physical advantage or disadvantage, as a last resort.

Hands down the funniest post in this thread.

Hands down the best post in this thread. I tried to say as much in another thread in another sub forum but I am not nearly as good with words as you are. Well said Mr. Tate. :)

While I can appreciate JB's attempt to do some sort of comaprison testing, I think the tests need to reflect actual, real life scenarios.

I agree. JB, you could try this...

1. Leave your case on top of your car in a drunken blur. Drive off and inspect the damage tomorrow when you sober up.

2. Cheat on your wife, she gets really mad and throws your case and clothes out of the 2nd story window.

3. Get in a sword battle with a ninja breaking in your home, using your case as a sword.

While Im only kidding, any of those 3 would be awesome to watch.

In all seriousness though, a case can really only do so much. I don't expect, nor would I ever expect a case to be indestructible. I limit the odds of my case calling from any serious distance by not putting it in that situation. I careful with my cues inside and outside of the case. But if my case drops from a serious distance, I would no way expect things to be ok... just hope. Things happen, you just can't avoid fait.

It's funny that you mention angry wives.

I once had a story sent to me by an Instroke case owner who said that he and his 300lb wife were arguing about his pool playing. His case was leaning against the wall and she drop kicked it and went flying on her ass and the case and cues inside were unharmed. He said that if it weren't for the seriousness of the situation then he would have laughed his ass off. He wrote that to thank me for building such a solid case.

I have never received an update on how the relationship went.

This is true.

So all other things being equal can we agree that more padding is better than less or no padding when accidents do happen?

What if you could have a pretty good expectation that your cues would be ok? Not just hope?

This following story can be verified through Mervyn, the video editor at AccuStats. I don't have the pictures on the computer that he sent to me but here is the story anyway.

Mervyn (Glodek) I think, was in a car accident. His car flipped and he was luckily able to walk away with some cuts and bruises but was otherwise fine. When the salvage people lifted his car they found that his pool cue case, an Instroke, had been trapped beneath the roof. Some how the case ended up under the car with the whole car's weight on it. The car had also slid some distance like this.

The pictures that Mervyn sent me showed that the case was chewed up pretty good but still in usable condition, with a broken latch of course, and the cues inside of it were not harmed in the least.

That story and many others like it are what make me feel right with what I am doing.

All of you who say that the extra protection isn't worth it can't know that until something happens.

As my good friend Gunter Hopfinger says about the insurance he sells, "no one knows the value of insurance until they need it".

And as someone else said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

And lastly, as my hero, Ben Franklin said, "for want of a nail the horse was lost and thus the rider was overtaken and slain by the enemy. For lack of warning the battle was lost. All for want of of horseshoe nail."

We can't nerf (pad) the world as Joe Rogan reportedly said, but I say we do nerf what we can and that helps.

For those of you outside the USA who don't know what NERF means, it's a brand of FOAM toys designed to be played with so that they cant hurt the children playing with them.

I wanna see the test where they simulate the pool player gets so mad cause he dogged it and lost a money game, and tosses his case out of the sunroof on I95 on the way home from the pool hall, only to pull over after he realized that his cue was kind of valuable, and backed up to finally get it after it was bumped and run over by cars and trucks.

I'll tell you what. Maybe i just got lucky, but there wasn't a scratch on the cues. The pleather outside of the case was scratched to pieces, but the PVC inside or whatever the heck it was made out of, was like a TANK.

Chris, I feel the same way. BUT Eric is also abrasive online and he does his own share of provocation and uncalled for insulting.

I went to Allen and Dawn Hopkins and personally stood up for Eric Hu and asked that he be allowed to continue attending the Super Billiards Expo.

The point here is that Eric can make his points about my tests WITHOUT insulting and denigrating me.

He chooses the latter course.

I totally agree. Fast Larry went waaaaaay beyond a typical internet pest.

If Eric Hu shows up at my booth I will call him an asshole to his face. Bet the farm on that one.

What happens after that is anybody's guess.

Sincerely,

John Barton - Cue Case Nutjob.

Well I think that everyone knows this. People, except SuperStar and Me, don't normally go around dropping their cases. But it happens and other crap happens.

And when it happens I'd rather have some more cushion around my cue if I can.

That's just me. For some people a plastic bag and a rubber band are all the case they ever want or need.

My thoughts on the JB Case video is that John should stick to what he does best, make cases.
