For $251,000.00 (the difference between first and second), who's gonna win?

edit: Sorry I slaughtered the word who's.

When Hohmann looks into the stands he might just see 10 Filipino players sitting together cheering for Manalo:D

Hohmanns had his number so far, however, the prize stakes at $350,000 have increased substancially. The Filipnos know what to do when playing for the cash.

I'm picking Manalo in a squeeker.

RJ

The interesting thing is that they have played each other twice in this tournament and Hohmann has owned Manalo both times. Nevertheless, I still have to go with Manalo. He is SSOOOO capable of stringing racks and there's nothing Hohmann will be able to do but watch. I think it will be closer than the previous matches. I predict Manalo in a very close match.

Two titans on a collision course-----MM will win by the hair on his chinny-chin-chin

Manalo's got significantly better percentages... vide IPT website. But what the hell, NOT against Thorsten!

I checked the stats from the King of the Hill tournament last year and sure enough, they played each other in the first AND second rounds. Who won? Marlon won both times (8-6 in the first round and 8-4 in the second round).

So they've played each other 4 times in IPT 8-ball events and it's a wash. Marlon has won twice and Thorsten has won twice.

Very interesting.

I have no favorite here, but Hohmann will win, and it will take 3 sets.

I would go with Manalo, but the way Hohmann has been playing and especially against Manalo, I just have to give the edge to him, he's running out at 37%

But it will be a long hard battle, nothing like the KOTH, this will be a battle of the run out, I predict a lot of run outs, I can see Hohmann going 4 in a row, then Manalo going 4 in a row...back and forth, who ever gets the nice rolls at the right time will win it all.

I guess Manalo since the the last IPT he might have been robbed ,but either player are both deserving of the title

Yes, this is what I figure might happen, but I wonder if the main tables are playing the same as the others in the tournament. Perhaps this will have an impact on their execution. Also, I have to give the edge to Hohmann when it comes to playing under pressure. Has Marlon ever made it to a championship round with TV and all the bells and whistles? I know Hohmann has multiple times.

MARLON MANALO!!! And I bet you that he'll cry, look up to the heavens and say ..................................

Sure, he's capable of stringing racks together, but Hohmann has more break-and-runs than Manalo, by a decent margin. If anyone is going to be stringing racks together, it's Toastie.

The time is right, I want to see Marlon break the record and do>>>>>15

The 37% (Throstens B&R for games won) stat is kind of stupid to me. I don't really get it's purpose. I can kind of see where it would be a bad stat to have high. Being that it seems you can only win when you B&R. (If your at 100%)

Anyway, a friend of mine mis read the stats so I thought that others may have too. In the player stats there are two B&R stats. The first listed (The highest) Is B&R % of games won. The second is for games played. Again I don't know why I would need, or even want to know the first one but hey, to much info is never bad.

Anyway Thorsten has around 21%, Maron around 16% for games played.

I pick Marlon by the way, because he's philipino, and that seems to usually be worth at least 1 ball. lol

The first column (the High %) is the correct one, when you win you break again, so games won is just about equal to the amount of times you get to break. In fact I got reports on the number of breaks from a player in 10 matches and the games won is almost identical to the number of times a players breaks.

On the other hand the second column (the lower%) is wrong completely useless, it includes all games played which includes the times your opponent breaks.

How can you have a stat that includes games you don't even have chance to break and run? The first column 37% is the right number for Hohmann he breaks and runs out about 4 out of 10 breaks.
If your not breaking it can't count against your Break and run average, the term is "break" and run you have to be breaking to even have a shot at breaking and running out.

It would be like counting every at bat of every player on a baseball team to figure out one players batting average, it's just not the correct way to do it.

So Hohmann is breaking and running out at 37% And Manalo at 31%

Guys with higher Break and Run % will clearly be in the top of the IPT standings, also it would be an awesome stat to have high, heck if you break and run at 100% (impossible) you would never lose:D

Listen I have said from the beginning that the hitman is going to win because he's beaten manalo twice during this tournamnet, hohmann has manalo's number and manalo knows it so for all you manalo fans out their sorry but your winner will be:

THORSTEN "THE HITMAN" HOHMANN.

That's correct. A guy that runs out every time he breaks is, by definition, unbeatable. To say that a high B&R% out of games won is bad is an oxymoron. The higher the stat, the less the opponent gets to the table at all. And the very best thing you can do, especially at this level, is to keep your opponent sitting pretty.

BTW, I'm almost changing my vote and picking Toastie on that one! LOL He seems to have an edge between the two and I never figured more AZBers would pick Manalo. Must be the filipino bias.

Thorsten has come a long way in the last couple of years. From almost quitting the game to reaching the pinnacle of success. His is a true Cinderalla story and I expect him to win.

Jake

Boy, what a tough call this match is: I'm going with Manalo just because of the pino mystic. I think the torch has been passed and M&M will sniff out the cheese first and he will dance his way to the finish line.......of course there is always the dry break 'bug' which is death.
Whoever gets there it will have been a great show....THANKS IPT........
