As a tip is used it will become harder. A tip can be made harder at the time of installation but I can't remember of any way to make it softer. My advice is to get a good tip to start with instead of trying to adjust the properties of an extremely hard tip.

i agree. did you buy a box thinking they were playable laminated tips and they are hard as a rock

Yes, that was what happen. They must be a way to make it slightly softer.

if you know the tip is too hard buy a different tip

I don't know of anything to soften the tip without it effecting the other layers.
They are are a really hard tip, but I think they do play well.
I use a willards tip shaper and just give the tip a light scuff every so often.
It wears them out a little faster, but they are very cheap tips and you can also break and jump with them quite well.

would you say they're too hard to play with? more just for breaking and jumping?

Some cues come standard with Super Pros, including Sugartrees. For my taste, they are too hard to play with.

i bought some to try out too...will be trying them out soon..
i like hard tips so that is why i bought them.

You can sell it to me at cost. I do play with it as well as many pinoys in EPT play with that tip. :)

They play very well.
On some cues, they will play as well as alot of other softer tips.
Meaning the draw and english is just as good.I just scuff the tip with the willards shaper if it seems like the tip is not holding chalk. It does not need much, just enough to ruf the surface a little,to break up the glaze.
As well as being a good play tip, they also make for a great break and Jump tip.
The break, jump , and play tip all have a different radius or shape.
For the play tip I like a dime radius most of the time, but on some tables I shoot better with a nickel radius.
For the break tip, it is mostly flat with a small amount of radius on the outside.
For the jump tip, I am using about a 25c radius(1/4 $),although a friend likes to use a dime radius on his jump cue.

I like them personally, hard but don't get miscues with them. Play great in my humble opinion.

Super Pros are one of the hardest layered tips made. Best thing to do to make it play softer is cut it off and replace it with a Moori or similar hardness tip.
