Cdoc just like cues I try and only collect bikes that are vintage. I have a old 53 Hummer that I would love to restore once I retire, My bike is not near as cool as the one in your pic but if it is restored correctly it will be cool. It is a simple bike and prime for a do it your selfer:wink:

The only reason I have the twin cam is to ride my mission. Other than that every bike I have had was built by me. Ground up. I don't restore. I chop.

Other than the twin cam the newest bike I have had is the 87 softail you see me on above. Many of my bikes have been hardtail though. And I have never had a sprung seat.

Choppers forever and forever choppers.

I am now pondering having a cue made that will be my ultimate cue, my #1 player. However, in terms of points, inlays, design, playability, etc, I don't know where to start to determine what I want in this cue or who I want to build this cue for me. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

This is how I did it.
  • I came up with a budget...granted it was flexible.
  • There was a short list of cue makers I'd even consider.
  • I looked at a ton of cues online, by both those cue makers on my list as well as those who weren't
  • I went about researching everything I could find on the cues made by those on the short list
  • My short list became even shorter and I made phone calls & wrote emails to those cue makers on my new, shorter list.
  • Once I found the cue I wanted, I spoke with the maker about cost, turnaround time, & the specs I wanted.
  • I sent a deposit. .

I hope this helps Mike. Best, -Steve

You called the entire forum a bunch of idiots, yet you continue to come back and ask for help.

Plus, you seem to get much more leeway than other posters on here especially when 90% of your posts start off with "cut the stupid crap"

OK, LOOK, CUT THE STUPID CRAP. I AM AFTER SOME SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY HERE. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BE FUNNY OR STUPID JUST PLEASE STOP. AND IF YOU CAN OFFER SOME SERIOUS INFO PLEASE POST.

I guess that would depend on how much you made on the Harley.

Pete Tascarella is a great place to start.

I completely agree, Buy something you won't lose a penny on if you decide to sell later. I waiting on a cue from Tascarella now, Should have it by the end of summer, To many people have told me that Tascarells's hit is amazing that's why I bought one, Cant go wrong with Pete.

1st choice for me

Call Leon Sly, he is a great person to deal with, he will probably make almost anything you want on time and on budget, my "big pin" 3/8 x 10 hoppe is the best quality and player I have ever had in my hands.

Here's an idea, and I'm serious as a heart attack on this one.
Buy a new Cuetec R360. Trotter says they're great players.
Take the left over money and invest in as much freeze dried food as you can buy.
You'll thank me later.

Seriously, take a high class Mezz or Exceed with a WX900. It's proven, high quality, full warranty for life.
Have somebody close to you make another shaft to your liking, just in case.
Be happy. Invest the rest of the money in something meaningful. House, travel, wife, ...

I have read and read about cue makers... the outcome usually is substandard. And the wait is just too long.

Cheers,
M (who plays a Cuetec R360 with Snooker shaft on top and laughs about all others)

I'm going the long way around the bush, sorry. We were just discussing this while fishing the other day. We being three of us fishing on Lake Michigan. One guy plays with a $60 Viking on bar tables. I own a Lund and the other person owns a Crestliner.
Myself, I play Table Tennis, ride a bicycle, shoot pool and fish along with a few other hobbies.
To the point. Right now your player is a Chad Carter Custom. You break with a Schon butt/Chad Carter shaft but you're asking us to pick out a cue for you. IMO we can't anymore then you can pick out a paddle for my Table Tennis game or a boat for me.
That's my long winded reply. Ken, AKA Fenwick.

P.S. I have a Schon also but prefer my custom ordered $300 Viking with my Z2's. Custom weight, custom butt size and Z2 shafts.

When you say full warranty for life, who's life do you mean. Your's, or the cue's?
There's no good reason for having a custom cue made these days. State-of-the-art production butts and shafts abound.
The more I look into it the more I'm impressed with that R360. I believe it, and others like it, to be the future of cues.

Thanks to those who made some positive suggestions here. I am ordering the Joss from Dan Janes on Monday and after that we will see where this goes.

Some nice motorcycles too. I just got to the point where I didn't ride mine so I sold it to a buddy. I might think about a Porsche 911 now that I have some extra $$$.

Considering what an average Harley sells for I'd buy a Szamboti with that kind of cheese.

If a new Joss is your "Ultimate" cue then you dont need "Hog" money for that....

Id have called either Joe Gold, Bob Manzino, Pete T., or my partner Keith... Anyone of them could have either "spent" all the $ of left you with some to gamble with.... Either way you would end up with an heirloom players cue...
