Some Like it Soft, Very Soft

Darcy, I was talking about one brand only, the main one as I see it. I view Oinkers as a different story, and though still produced at "UltraSkin facilities" they are expected to be somewhat inferior to UltraSkin tips, hence my numbering of 5 types.

If you haven't tried them, it's a little unfair to say "they are expected to be somewhat inferior to UltraSkin tips"
don't you think?

I believe Tom himself said that they were made from lesser grade leather, inferior. Leather that was deemed not worthy to go through the black tanning process.

that's most likely the reason for the superior grip and softer texture.

when will the website be updated with the VS added to order menu, anyone know?

Well, in the first place I was responding to Vahmurka, but since you felt worthy of jumping in:
I don't understand guys here making value judgments on people's products when they haven't tried them personally. Have you?
The reviews of the "Oinkers" that came out when they were first introduced were very positive. Perhaps a good choice for those who re-tip house cues, or, in my case, I re-tip for a reseller of Philippine cues that tend to come in with less than satisfactory tips. By putting on an inexpensive yet better tip, he stands a better chance of selling his cues. And the buyer/player gets a better playing experience with his/her brand new cue.
And yes, I make a whopping $5/tip, but sometimes we do it for the love.
My 2 cents,
Gary

Thanks for all the orders

It might be early in the game but has anyone instaled the VS UltraSkin and given it enough play for feed back?

Thanks

Gary, I agree with you that many people here inappropriately refer to products as inferior or superior. Our customers should be the judge of this. I know several strong players that still prefer le pros, even with all the maintenance issues (trimming mushrooming, tip changing density, wearing quicker, density differences from one tip to another, etc). Also, some people prefer the oinkers for just the reason that they don't grip as much. Different strokes for different folks. Demand, supply, manufacturing processes, customer service, marketing, etc. dictates price. References to quality should be restricted to the tip's ability to perform consistly. Otherwise, if you install a less expensive tip, you would be telling your customer that you are offering lower quality.

When a tip that plays differently from one the other, or will delaminate often, glaze over etc I would call it of inferior quality. I have a batch of a popular and expensive tip that I will not sell again because of glazing problems. I will not offer my customers an inferior product.

I have had no problems with any of Tom's tips and I have heard of no other people with complaints. He has addressed all issues that has arisen, which were few.

I have confidence that any product that Tom produces is of SUPERIOR quality!

Respect, Courage, and Commitment!

Very nicely said SouthernDraw. If anyone is maistaken here it is me, and I have to take the bullet.

I had come out with the Oinkers without the long testing period I had put into the UltraSkins. I myself mis spoke as I did use the word inferior. My only reason in doing so was so people did not expect all the same qualities where many do not want the same qualities.

I need a better command of the English Language and it is due to my lack of that confusion set in. I want to apoligise to Gary and the whole board as though my intentions were good my lack of true meaning caused confusion.

As a means to set this straight I offer to the next 10 Posters on this thread (In USA)

I'm also well stocked on Oinkers, but have had a couple requests for the VS since I started spreading the word that they were on the verge of availability.

Your product and service are as good as it gets. Tommy D.

I have a bunch if original medium Oinkers but I too would love to try the soft Oinkers and also the VS Ultra Skins. I shoot with SS tips myself so I'll be able to give MY feedback on the VS tips.
