Gary, I agree with you that many people here inappropriately refer to products as inferior or superior. Our customers should be the judge of this. I know several strong players that still prefer le pros, even with all the maintenance issues (trimming mushrooming, tip changing density, wearing quicker, density differences from one tip to another, etc). Also, some people prefer the oinkers for just the reason that they don't grip as much. Different strokes for different folks. Demand, supply, manufacturing processes, customer service, marketing, etc. dictates price. References to quality should be restricted to the tip's ability to perform consistly. Otherwise, if you install a less expensive tip, you would be telling your customer that you are offering lower quality.
When a tip that plays differently from one the other, or will delaminate often, glaze over etc I would call it of inferior quality. I have a batch of a popular and expensive tip that I will not sell again because of glazing problems. I will not offer my customers an inferior product.
I have had no problems with any of Tom's tips and I have heard of no other people with complaints. He has addressed all issues that has arisen, which were few.
I have confidence that any product that Tom produces is of SUPERIOR quality!
Respect, Courage, and Commitment!
