For the most part, they are all great people. There are a few jerks in the crowd, but that isn't exclusive to cuemaking. Here are the list of cuemakers that I have had fantastic dealings with:

Keith Josey
Samsara
Paul Dayton
Dan Janes
Jerry Pechauer
Scott Zachow
Thierry Layani
Rick Howard
Mike Webb
Evan Clarke
Steve Klein
Bill Dominiak
Ray Schuler
Thomas Wayne

I may be forgetting a few, but all of these guys were top notch, and were nothing less than professional in every dealing with them.

Richard Black when it was here in Germany 1987
Randy Mobley is the No1
Jess June from World Class
Tommy from Cash Cues
Michael Vollmer
Tony Zinzola
Leon Sly

Jack Madden and Keith Josey are among the finest and nicest cuemakers IMHO... Both are incredible people!

Mike Lambros
Bob Dzuricky
Tony Zinzola
Paul Dayton
Paul Sumrall
Mike Webb

Cheers

I've dealt with some good people and some that I wish i'd never got involved with in the cue making business.

I could make a list of good people, but i'd like to name one man who i'll never forget who went out of his way to help me with my cue repairs and modifications and that man was MIKE COCHRAN. Mike was a friend and a great cue maker........

Chosen well...

Guess I have, in my short time in this game I have only dealt with these cuemakers

Tim Scruggs
Mile Cochran
Jerry Rauenzahn

Chosen well, or lucky?

Ordered a rosewood sneaky from Keith Josey a few years back. It was a fantastic buying experience and an incredible playing cue with some beautiful grain. I ended up selling it, but I still get Christmas cards from Keith's family.

I'm at the tail-end of the cue-commissioning process with Chuck Starkey... and while I can't comment on the fit/finish or pricing, I can say he has been fun to communicate with and has kept me very involved in the design process. I definitely feel like this is my first true custom cue order and will feel a real ownership when I finally get it.

The only other positive experience I've had ordering a "custom" cue was with Brent of BHQ, but that was a previously-built jump/break. He graciously succumbed to my bartering and even switched the tip for me. Totally stand-up guy and makes a damn fine jump/break.

Hey Bob,
All cuemakers I have dealt with have and have known have been very nice people. The Mottey shop, Fanelli, Steve Klein, Szamboti, etc.. all very decent.

But in regards to your other thread I wanted to add but was late...

The higher the pedestal, the further the fall....

Late is one thing and lying is another.

When he tells you on friday he's finished the work and will mail it out on monday then will not answer the phone or answer an e-mail for seven weeks never sending anything out. Wow! What a whopper! If he keeps doing people like that sooner or later he will fall from his pedistal.

Sherri Josey

Dave Barenbrugge - even though I have not purchased a cue yet has been an excellent communicator.

my 2 cents

while i have purchased many cues made by well known custom cuemakers, i have only commisioned custom cues with 2 of these fine people. they are tim scruggs and ronnie powell(QP Cues). of these two i found my experience with mr powell to be extremely enjoyable. he made me feel like i was the most important customer he had.
i have an idea for another thread similar to this one. who are the custom cue "dealers" that have been good to deal with? could be interesting and informing.

I'll add one non-cuemaker (rather, former cuemaker) to the A list, Jack Justis.

Now, I'd really rather hear about the jerks though. There are definitely some out there... I had one jerk tell me that he wasn't sure if he wanted to make a cue for me... after all was said and done, he screwed up my order any way. What a loser.

My great experiences:

Tim Scruggs and Mike Cochran (x5)
Steve Klein (x2)
Dennis Searing
Eric Crisp
Barry Cameron
Wayne Holmes (x3)
Tony Scianella
Paul Dayton
Rick Howard

Mark <---knows there are more...and will think of them later

I'm new ordering custom cues, but up to this point I have nothing but good things to say about the following cuemakers:

Mike Webb
Lee Peppers
Brent Hartman
Dan Janes

Straight shooters.

Either a lot of players have a short memory, or the vast majority of players has not tried to play with an OMEN cue by Pete Ohman.

Pete is a very fine person and pretty good player. I've dealt with Pete and the experience was wonderful. He kept me up to date with pics and weight measuerments of the cue he was building for me.

I have recommended his work to other players after they shot with one of the 3 cues I've owned by him.

Each of the players really liked the service and pleasant communications they got from Mr. Ohman.

all of them except one, and when the time is right i'm going to out him here on AZB, the cue plays great but the cue maker as a man is a nit and built a very poorly constructed cue I paid top dollar for, he know's who he is. it has something to do with green and i dont mean money. perhaps he will see this and dop the right thing. playing me for a fool, popular veneers get dirty is normal. I have more $$$ worth of cues than he has built. please.
