Something Completely Different In Pool Tables

This guy has been around for several years. I don't know how anyone can claim that a table finished in marble, plays any better than any other table.
It may look nice, if that's your thing...but play better? I doubt it...

How would anyone ever move that? Must weigh two tons

Damn Straight, that thing, while beautiful, looks like it weighs about as much as your average statue:eek:

granite top

about 3 years ago a friend and i stumbled accross a 5x10 snooker table that has a 1 piece granite top, we had our local monument(gravestone) company estimate the weight. 5x10 1 1/4 thick granite they estimated the top was around 1800 pounds without rails or frame. It now has 860 on it and plays very well but you dont want it to get too cold (which is very hard in our dakota winters) it takes forever to warm up. If i had more time right now i would tell the story how it took 16 people to get it out of the basement when we bought it. maybe later

According to this an 8' table weighs in at 850lbs, about as much as an 8' Gold Crown.

In that case it can't be all real marble. A good painter can fool people to think it is. I live in Milwaukee and there is a Catholic church here that people are inpress by it's "marble work". If you look close you will reveal it is painted.

if you read the site some you'll see it's sheathed in marble. probably not very thick, considering the weight.

Arculeo's new method of applying marble (Patent# 5720666 ) is both durable and lightweight. An eight-foot leather pocket table weighs no more than a coin operated table, approximately 850 pounds. The marble table however, appears megalithic in mass.

The stone is impervious to all but a hammer. It will not chip, crack or dent from a misguided ball or cue. It will not fade, warp or decay for centuries. The marble is beveled and polished to 8500 grit/sq. in. and then treated to repel water. It will never need refinishing. A passing hand cannot feel joints or sights. It is genuine natural stone. You can even put a cigarette out on it.

The weight and stability of the marble rails creates a better bounce or return of the ball when banking.

A steel-framed lighted base is available with translucent marbles such as Onyx, Alfion, White Italian, Ming Green, Pearl, etc

Maintenance is no problem as the base is lighted with neon bulbs which last up to 75 years and assembles as easily as conventional table.
