Something pretty cool that I found last night

So many familiar names. You could make a line up for a tourney
tomorrow out of that group.

Figured a lot of you would like that one. I need to do a little more net scouring to see what else I can find.

Clyde Childress Open 1985

I found this last night while at work

http://www.azbilliards.com/accustats/V2_N01.pdf

There are a lot of recognizable names in there. Just thought I would do a little show and tell.

What a tournament!, what would be great is to have a section here on AZB where all it is , is tournaments from yesteryear, have a section with all of them together.

That would be pretty cool. When I got home this morning I decided to do a simple search of the title of the first .pdf and found quite a few more :)

I would imagine that every volume is here on AZBilliards, but I have not looked as I now have plenty to read :)

Reading through these you get a very real sense of just how much of a dominant force Mike Sigel was. Here is a quote from one of the tournaments he won.

Mike displayed excellence in most statistical categories but exceptionally well in "Run Outs from
the Break". This stat reflects a player's ability to
break and run out without allowing his opponent to
the table. Sigel accomplished this 43% of the time.
In fact, if he made a ball on the break, you were in
real trouble, for under these circumstances he ran
out 60% of the time. How can anyone fade that?

That is one helluva tournament stat.

I was at this tournament and it was a great event. Gary Spaeth ran 14 straight banks playing wade Crane in the banks, making a couple that weren't possible.

The Beard didn't play in the Banks? I see his name in the 9B, but I wouldn't think that was his strong suit. Maybe he had a 1P game to play in place of the tourney.

Old Tournament Listing Section!

You can see them all here.

Now this is what I'm talking about! Way cool! Rep to you Wayward, between you and gunzby, we now have real good listings of old accu-stats tournaments!

I added these to my favorites for sure, hope even more can get listed!, we need gunzby's list added to yours visa/versa so they will all be together.

The Clyde Childress (April 20, 1946-Jan 5, 1982) Tournament winners are as follows.....

1982 Buddy Hall
1983 Mike Sigel
1984 Keith McCready
1985 Earl Strickland
1986 Jose Parica

How does accustats calculate their statistics? Is it simply the

shots made / total number of shots (excluding safes) ?

Why doesn't everyone use something like this for life time averages in various games?

Sorry:

I found their scoring and calculation procedures here
