Generally speaking there is just no way that I worry as much about a himmicane coming my way as a hurricane. When they started naming some hurricanes after guys it took a lot of the fear factor away. After over 200 years of real b!tches hitting us it is just hard to get too excited about a guy headed our way.

This all changes for the east coast right now. A hurricane named after Earl Strickland is headed your way. We all know how explosive Earl can be in more ways than one! Keep your heads down guys and gals, this one has the scariest name since they named one after my ex!

Hu , I know Rita & Katrina were real *****es for you in Nawlins , but the year before that , I got hit with 4-in-a-row here in Florida , and the boys , Charlie and Ivan , weren't no damm fun atall .
And we've only been naming 'em since '53 - not hardly 200 years.
Gave 'em boys names way back in '79 , and this ain't the first 'Earl'.
Unless they're giant disasters (Rita , Katrina, Camille) the names get recycled

Better get arm weights to keep you from blowing away, and shooter's glasses to protect your eyes! :grin:

We used to have a hurricane party every time a hurricane got in the gulf. We were missed by the hurricane a lot of times but we never missed the party!

I guess it's another sexist thing, just ain't the same having a party in a guy's honor. It was about the time that they started naming the storms after the guys too that hurricane parties became no longer a must in the Hu household.

A chuckle from a hurricane party: My decision to have one was a late breaking thing when I was too tired to go to one across town so I had few guests. One that stayed the night on my queen sized pull out sofa was a large pool playing partner. Red was big, six four or five and well above two-fifty. Due to the storm I had brought my two chow dogs indoors, . . . . and the chows weren't really fond of strangers. I'd hear a growl or two every time I woke during the night but I'd just grin and roll over.

The next morning I get up and find Red balled up in a fetal position square center of the mattress with his hands wrapped tightly around his legs. My two 40-50 pound dogs had kept him treed all night! I was of course deeply sorry for my mistake and eager to make amends. Well, actually my loud laughter is what woke Red up after only falling asleep from exhaustion after daylight. I asked him what the hell he thought he was doing all balled up like that when the chows could just step up on the bed. He said he just knew if an arm or a leg hung over the side of the bed it would be gone!

I did put the dogs out pretty quickly, Red had a problem with his eye teeth floating from all the beer he had drank the night before and being unable to go to the bathroom all night. I was considerate concerning that, considerate of my sheets and mattress!

That is funny Hu. We partied every time a hurricane came by also, like it was our last. Twenty or so friends at the strongest friends house. In '99', my son was born and a Cat. 5 was coming in so we had to split to VA. By the time it hit Myrtle, it was barely a 1, lol. It took us 16 hours to get back to the beach from VA because of flooding. Too old for that stuff now, I'm older and scared now, lol. :grin-square: Ron
 
here's some useless info. they give the Hurricanes names like this....they go alphabetically and alternate male/female names. So ex. Bob, Claire, David, Eva....etc. etc.
