Southwest player for sale

Is that roll in the butt? shafts? both?
Is it a satin finish with different wrap and Pred shaft?

thanks

Is this pin what is called a "flat face"? Was that an option or did SW use a different type pin at some point? Nice cue.

That doesnt look like a SW... Ring work not standard..

Can you get pics of the pin with the serial?
Do you have verification on the cue?

I have the same cue and it def looks the same to me - it's a southwest "pacifier" aka "satin" which refers to the finish not being the glossy automotive finish used on standard southwests.

IIRC, there was just one year when Jerry made about 20 of these that he used pins with the cactus logos. All future pacifiers have pins with no logo or serial numbers.

I think I have this right. Greg, ga9ball can chime in if I don't because he will def know the details.

Yup, looks like a pacifier with a refinish and rewrap.

I'm surprised seaglas hasn't bought it he liked the price so much.

Thank you for coming to the source Joe!

We do Satins when we want to train someone to do a new job or just switch things up a bit. We got just one group out recently. I don't take orders for them.

Following is a "form Letter" I use to explain a satin:

Hello,
Looks like you have a "Satin Finish" cue. Single 1/32" white line at the joint.
-It's a seconds line that we do once or twice a year. They are unfinished, ie. sealed with epoxy and oil; the same way we treat our shafts.
-they will get dirty like a shaft and are subject to the environment [could warp so don't leave it in your car! ]
-the birdeye maple has mineral marks or the grain may run out a little. The wood is not good enough for a regular cue but much too nice to throw away.
-the cues are assembled in the same manner as our regular cues but not pre-calculated for weight. They come with 1 shaft 13mm.
-My husband called these cues "pacfiers". Gave the person something decent to hit a ball with while waiting for a regular cue.
People love them. They are almost too much trouble for us to do but I still try to get at least one group a year out.
Also, I try to send them to individuals who will keep them. I am not happy to hear people spray laquer on them and try to sell them as firsts.
I hope yours plays well and you are happy with what you did pay. The only way I could positively identify it would be to send it here. Probably not worth all that, especially if you like the way it hits...play with it!

Thank you, Laurie Franklin
