Southwest

No. But when I play thousand dollar sets where a shot or two can and does make a difference quite a bit, it matters. I want quality in my hands. I want my cue to be made by a master woods crafter. Currently playing with a Lambros cue and most likely will continue playing with my Lambros cue. Probably will add a Josey to my collection at some point. Josey cues hit real sweet. Why do companies in all aspects of life keep coming up with better products?
I have a question, what type of shaft do you use with that Lambros?

To answer the original question. In December of 2022 Laurie told me they were working on April/May of 2006 and I was on the list at June of 2006. So I assumed that by then end of January I should be getting a email or call about my cue. Nothing yet. Apparently, time is not the same in cuemaker land. I have waited 17 years, whats a few more months.

Fatboy, you make it sound so romantic, so please justify the additional $1500+ just to get an ebony cue Laurie charges if it isnt about the money. The wood doesnt cost that. So please spare us your drama.

Come to SBE
I'll make you crumble and use a lowly Predator to do it.
Yea yea yea. I’ve heard that before. Why a predator though. Why not embarrass me while you are at it and play with a broomstick.
But in case I do, what’s your name so I know who to ask for

Not sure what there options are. If they make a LD shaft then that. If not then just there regular shaft. I’m not a fan of carbon fiber
So you're planning on playing with a cue where the most important part is not something you've looked into as yet.

I don't blame you if it's an investment, maybe we're all silly not to throw our names on the list. I had a Kirsenbrock, it's a solid cue, great quality but it taught me that I hate linen wraps. The idea that it ups you game dramatically I think is wrong. A cue that fits you does. As for investments, they are top notch.

Got on the list 10-12 years ago. Name won’t come up for another 3-5 years. Who knows what they will be offering at that point. And I might just give it to my grandson as he will be graduating college around then and keep playing with my Lambros. Gonna be hard to give up on my current cue.
Thanks for the baiting questions though.

I don’t think the Southwest will up my game at all really. The ones I’ve hit with hit real good but so does my current cue. I do think switching to a cheaply made cue will hurt my game a little though.

Wasn't really baiting, just trying to make sense of it, especially when most people these days use 3rd party shafts no matter what butt they are playing..
I apologize then. Hard to read people on here sometimes. I’m of the belief that you should use the shaft that the custom cue maker provides. I’m not big on third party stuff where a custom cue is concerned.

If I'm there ( because action is less each year, depresses me)
I'm the guy playing everybody $100 to 300 a set, 13 hours a day like I have for over a decade. Last 2 years it's $500 to $1,000 a set with one guy who actually has heart and bankroll. I play anybody, but known champions.

I'll bring 2 broomsticks, in case we get bored. You bring a bunch of dead presidents. I won't quit, so bring comfortable shoes and a change of socks.

I’ll let you know. I really haven’t gone the last 11 years since I moved to florida. But went every year before that when I lived in Baltimore. Our crew was actually instrumental in getting Allen to put in extra tables to gamble on years ago. Have some friends to see that I haven’t seen in quite a while so thinking of going this year.

No need to apologize, not sure they were baiting but they were probably leading. I have nothing against Southwest cues, I'm sure they are so far above what I play in terms of both at being artwork, great hitting and great investments. If it fits you, it might help you in a match too.

This would make a good poll. How many player replace the shaft on their custom cue shaft with one from a a third party.
Sometimes I wonder if the true custom cue maker is a dying breed. Lots of players believe you can put a carbon fiber shaft on just about any butt and you are good to go. Seems to be the wave of the future

The wave certainly seems to be high tech, especially when it comes to shafts. Hard for a custom maker to keep up with the big companies in the race. Some how I don't think their going anywhere though. People like custom stuff.

I would never wait that long for any cue. I will stick with my Tascarella, I doubt a
southwest plays any better. I have a couple Lambros & Mottey cues that I feel the
same about.
