The Guinness World Series of Pool seems to be "speed" pool this year. I've been watching it live on star sports all day long. I don't get it. You have these middle aged guys running around the table.

It's comical. I wouldn't pay to watch this stuff.

It's not pool, it's Clownish, Circus like.

I'm gonna tell you guys: We are (and I mean everybody) absolutely loving this speed pool tournament. Drama, sweat, excitment, phenomenal times, break downs. This could be huge!

I know it's heresy to profess these sentiments, but I've watched enough speed pool to say that the guys who excel at it would excel in any pool game, speed or otherwise. I'd love to see all the wiseguys on this forum take a shot at it. Would be good for a laugh.

Back in the late 70's and 80's, I had to shoot fast every game, every shot.

I was a hustler and the faster I shot, the more money I'd make in one hour.

This was bar room 8 ball of course; I couldn't keep customers waiting.

There were always a long line of quarters on the tables so I needed to

shoot fast. Lots of people wished they could shoot like me and today

is no different. I just don't get out of the house much anymore.

Of course today is race day...so I'm out of here....LOL!

Just watch Earl in the 80's and some tournaments in the 90's.

You must like Circus's...you spent all day watching something you wouldn't pay for...that an you don't get it...my hats off to you sir.
Just wondering...is your cable/internet free...in other words you did pay to watch it,plus you through your day away watching the circus...much like this post...lol

Last time I saw speed pool on TV they used that dining room conversion table with sharp corners. Ouch!

a buddy of mine won a couple of the ESPN speedpool deals (07 and 08, I believe). The winnings were NICE....your opinion of it can be whatever, but the money isn't "crap", and the players who excel at it are PLAYERS.

Like many other things in life, it does look kind of foolish at first, but it can really be fun. Oh, that, and it's one of those things that when you try it, you think you can do just a little bit better so you keep at it. They've had a table for this at one(or more) of the regional tournaments up here before and everybody's enjoyed giving it a shot. Like Paul said, you've still got to be a good shot, on top of shooting quickly, to be able to do well.

Heck, I'm sure that if SVB said he knocked off a rack in 43 seconds, people would be all over it giving it a try. Most would flounder and wouldn't talk about it, but I'm pretty sure it would still happen.
