Spent 12 hours in the pool room yesterday...:)

And did it feel great!

It was one of those rare Saturdays I did not have a ton of work to do. So I decided to play in the local 10-ball tournament which started at 2pm. got there at 1pm and left at 1:30am.

Got knocked out of the tournament around 7:00pm but hung around and ended up in a cheap ring-game and then one set of 1P at the end.

All-in-all a good day of pool.

Plus the owner was nice enough to broadcast the boxing match last night. Not into the sport, but watching it in a pool room with a bunch of guys was fun.

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Good for you, that should have been my day. I was told about a open 9ball tourny in Denver yesterday long races and double elim for not a whole lot of bucks. I spent most of the week thinking I was going to go and at the last minute life got in the way. Your night sounded like a good time.:thumbup:
 
I watched the Kentucky Derby on TV at my home yesterday, while I was working on a job due Monday.

I missed all the pre-game hype because I had to work.

I went on Sportsbook-dot-com to make a bet, and this year, for whatever reason, I could not bet triples and exactas, only straight bets.

I am a Calvin Borel fan, and I bet $20 to win on Mine That Bird. I won over $1,000. In fact, strangely enough, when I bet the first $10 on the Internet site, I got Mine That Bird at 60-to-1 odds. When I realized I couldn't bet the dollar-triple-box like I always do, I decided to place another $10 bet on Mine That Bird, this time at 45-to-1 odds. I locked in at two different odds, and I'm getting back a nice chunk of change.

Then, to see Pacman gloriously triumph, defeating Hatton in two rounds, it made for a great sports day for me. It is a Saturday I will always remember. :)

I am glad you enjoyed the horses but I'll tell ya...all that jargon was Greek to me! I never learned about betting on horse races so trifectas and the like don't register. I could look it all up as I consider myself a cyber warrior of sorts...but...I am afraid I would be encouraged to start gambling on the races.

Probably why I refuse to learn to play poker.

All things considered with the economy and closing poolrooms etc., I do have it pretty good. I really have no room to complain. I read on the forums all the time about other members whose options are greatly limited regarding tournament, gambling and poolhall availability, and I consider myself lucky.

I could literally play in various weekly tournaments every day of the week. Plus I am less than 3 hours away (by car) from Valley Forge and the US Open 9-ball tournament. The Tiger Tour (formerly Planet Pool), is based out of MD/VA...and since I live in Baltimore, this is very convenient.

My home room is clean, comfortable, friendly, and has great owners. They also have two weekly tournaments and various leagues, and they even host the annual Maryland 14.1 tournament, which does attract pros like Mika, Thorsten and Jeannette.

So I am very lucky to be residing here in Baltimore.

It is actually to the point where I can pick and choose which tournament or league I care to participate in!

I am not boasting or gloating...just pleased that I am this fortunate to "get my pool on" at whatever level or location suits me.

(meanwhile I played a 10-b ring game last night for $1 on the five and $2 on the ten...LOL)

Truth be told, I don't understand a lot of the racing jargon, but I do know a little.

I bet very low when I do be the horses. I'm not a go-off. I only bet what I can afford to lose. That's the way I have always been.

In pool and poker, I am the same way. When I have been on the road, if an action game comes my way, I will not bet on it unless I can afford to lose. If I cannot afford to lose, I will respectfully request my counterpart(s) to seek out a Backers Committee. I can chip in what I can afford to lose, that way, and have fun. :)

I haven't spent an all-day and all-nighter in the pool room in a very long time. I do long for the day I can do that again. I miss it. :(
 
Sounds dee-lightful. I used to be able to go 12 hours but now I get bored. I almost wish I weren't built that way. My girlfriend will do the 12 hour thing no problem though!

Doesn't sound like an expensive day either. Can't beat pool for a pleasant way to kill a saturday.

Funny you should mention that.
I went in the room with $100.
I paid $20 for the entry fee.
I got food and drink naturally.
Then I played the cheap ring game and one-pocket set.

After tabulating winnings and expenses, I left with $101.

Not a bad way to make a dollar...:)

And yeah, I am going back to play later. Wheee!
 
Thats Awsome 12 hours! When you went to sleep did you see pool balls moving around when you closed your eyes ?

I ask becuse everytime i play for so many hours i see pool balls moving around everytime i close my eyes when i was trying t get to sleep.

Didn't see little pool balls, was too busy cursing myself for staying on my feet for so long...:)
 
Sounds like my kind of day!
Hopefully I'll be in the poolhall for around 9-10 hours tomorrow. :thumbup:
 
Thats my normal weekend!!!!!

This weekend I made the 4 hour trip to omaha on friday and played in the side pockets 9 ball tournament. That was a 36 hour day.

Then staurday I got to the pool hall around 4:00pm played till they closed at 4am lol. I guess I am one of the very luckey few who get to do that kind of thing and not have my GF kill me. :thumbup: She actually likes the fact that I will get out of the house on the weekends and sometimes she comes with me when her kids are at her exe's lol.

I guess I am just blessed:grin-square:
