Spots on Arimath Tournament Balls

Put me down for ball to ball collisions.

Put me down also for more mental masterbation only like every other thread here, as it’s been 3 days and no one has simply shot without pocketing the balls yet;)

Slow yer roll! I said I would, but haven't had time to play with my balls yet.

I have a Gold Crown 2 with Simonis 860, in an air conditioned room, and I only use Masters chalk. No matter what ball set I use, I get small round spots on them after playing for about 20-30 mins. I have attached 2 pictures, the first is right after polishing the balls, and the second is liberally 25 mins later. Has anyone else experienced this?

You might discuss spots on your balls with your primary physician.

I see you changed your mind about all of us "idiots" who have a signature as you previously stated...

Why do posters have to sign off on their post by naming or posting pictures of every cue they own, the case they use, the chalk they use and/or some quote that they’ve found on Bartlett’s Familiar quotations. I’m not impressed with your que collection or your attempt at wit or attempt to appear intellectual. Cue stick reviews I understand. The rest is just excess.

Go to a golf or tennis blog. No one signs off with a list of their clubs or tennis racket make and model or the ball they use or some quote from Einstein.

Have you checked to see if maybe a nail head or even the indentation of a nail head in one of the pockets is the culprit?

My experience with old gold crowns says that they nailed the corner of the pockets to hold them in. Just sayin".

Are you aware it is recommended to let the polish dry for a while before using them even if you have used a cloth on them after cleaning and/or polishing?

I believe it's on the back of Aramith ball cleaner bottle but never the less, the polish residue can leave tracks on your cloth. (maybe spots on the balls after contact?)

So I've been polishing mine after I'm done playing, not right before I play.

This makes sense, but are you then speculating that it's the hard plastic back of the pocket that is causing the spots on the freshly polished balls, or the contact point between two freshly polished balls colliding causing the spots?

Neither. I don't think it has anything to do with ball to ball contact myself. My nail theory is the one I'm sticking with. I've seen these older Brunswick pockets before and they are nailed. He never did say if he has ball return or drop pockets. Drop pockets I'm sure of. They used to use little brass nails with a round head on them just about the size of his spots.

Not the nail, as many people experience the spots but not all have a Brunswick pocket.

I guess when I get out of work I'll buff the balls and have a go without pocketing balls. I believe it to be ball to ball contact.

No nails, nails would cause scratches or dings, not larger round marks. I played in a place that had the leather pockets ripped, and the interior metal was exposed. All their balls looked like they had a run-in with Wolverine, and the worst part is that I brought a set of Centennials from my friend's house to use, and dinged a few of those before I noticed what was happening.

Nails don't make solely cosmetic marks, they make scratches, gouged, chips, etc...

I think the facts laid out in prior pages here speak for themsrlves...it is scuffs we are talking about and it is either the pockets (dirty pockets) or ball to ball contact that is the cause.

Fwiw- i only use aramith juice every 4 or so times thcleaning; a drop or 2 per platter-full in my diamond polisher,.
When the need to be their best, I allow the solution to dry before hand removal of it, then they go in the machine.

And finally...remember one's experiences are not necessarily shared by others.

Do you happen to know just how hard an Aramith ball is? Check online sometime. You can find a site that puts the ball under extreme pressure until it explodes. Many hundreds of pounds I assure you. Yes you can scratch the surface with metal contact but you must not have read the part about the nailheads having a round repeat round surface, plus it is brass, read soft.

And the point I would like to make is that since you think experiences aren't shared by others, that is exactly why we do share our experiences with others. So we may impart some knowledge to others that don't know.

I hate it when people discount theorys when they don't seem to have any knowledge of what someone is talking about.

I have also Aramith Super Pro set with Duramith (1 month old) and I have the same marks on balls. In 1 month I didn't use any polish on balls, I just wash them one time using water and soap. My table is a Sam K-Steel.

My thoughts are that marks comes from pockets.

Just for grins, and I had not heard of such a brand table before, so I looked at some online and noticed that they had a similar pocket design as Brunswick. It's not at all uncommon for some manufacturers of tables to use similar design from other manufacturers.

You mentioned you also get the same spots on your balls.

As I suggested in another post, you might check all your pockets, especially if they are drop pockets, for any round nailheads protruding from the sides of the pockets.

Speaking from experience, of course.

So, you are claiming that a nailhead can make marks that are the size of the marks we are talking about and are pictured earlier in this thread?

FWIW, I have a set a of Super Aramith Pros that have the same marks and they've only been used on my 7' Diamond Pro Am. I will admit that I occasionally hit the balls directly with my cue, however, so I don't know if that's part of the issue with mine.
