Square tips?

When did predator start making the bk-2/3 tips square?
I wonder why they did this too.

Its the same waste there not saving any of the material to make more tips there just making it more of a pain in the ass for us lol

I do agree its easier to simply shear the pieces than punch the round tips. :thumbup:

diffrent cant say that I like it though, if it does save them money you can be sure more new tips as they come out will be the same way.
 
I'm working a tourney,
Had two to do.....
I offered a 3$ discount to leave it square, neither took it :)
 
That would be a pain. Darcy, your poor lathe looks like mine after a hard day. I can clean the shavings off at night and I swear they jump out of the trash can and go right back the next day :grin:

This lathe collects debris like a sanitation worker!!!!!

I rarely install 40 tips in a night at home too though :D
 
They're made for square shafts. :eek:

I can't wait for square ferrules next. :eek:

thats the most costly efficient way. They bond the layers together flat and cut them down to 15mm squares. lol

They all make flat sheets, then cut out the tips from the flat stock.
There may be less stress in cutting up into squares than punching out the round tips.
That way, a failed tip is blamed on the installer not the tip maker.
 
not always! regular cansas or other types of phenolics are rolled or sheeted, cut and rounded to dowels. But that was even want I wanted to say @conetip.

That way each cuemaker could easily make his own break tips!
 
They stopped paying their sweat shop laborers, only giving them a piece of bread a day now so they dont cut circles anymore.

Who else wants to pay 800$ for a predator manufactured cue, that in my opinion looks and plays like sh*t. When there are an unfathomable amount of cuemakers on here that would make a stunning cue and a great player for the same or less.

Also, whose using those yellow tips? 22$
 
Matches your headBud. Actually at the same tourney Darcy is at. Been watching his work and it is impeccable. As good as any i have seen. He put a gator print wrap on my buddies cue. I hunted but counldnt find a seam. Hes even a nice guy in person.i

Agreed. Darcy put an Oinker on one of my Lambros shafts yesterday. His workmanship was impeccable ! I tried it out today and loved it, a nice medium-soft tip (I normally use ElkMasters).

When i get them in from Predator I take them to the belt sander and round off the corners. Makes it a little easier to cut down on the lathe.

Note" When using the tip in the square form you must always use the square bottle of loc tite glue. The round bottled glue will role right off the tip.
 
I've never seen so many bk ferrules!
I did 5 so far!
I really don't mind it square to be honest.
My cutter makes short work of them :)
 
Ya definitely need to take over your own spot next year Darcy. There is too much money there to share it.

I'll come in and help you next year. We can both play a little and work.

2 lathes = twice the money.

That Oinker scared me for a few shots until I got used to it. After that, clear sailing. They are actually a great tip for the money.

Well, mine was free and that was even better. That Black Dot shaft has always had a Dud on it so it was a bit of an adjustment.

I won my games with it and thats all that counts, the balls go in the pockets.

Very good draw and some spinnies with it too.

Now get to work and makes some of those beautiful cues that I saw, instead of spending your afternoons playing at the Metro.

BTW, that Blackwood burl combo Merry Widow that I held was most excellent. You wouldn't have to ask me twice to own one of those.
